Settings not remaining persistent

Problem still occurring today 5 April 2021.

Logged in this morning and the settings were set to what I had set the day before but then I played one game then did one lesson then rechecked my settings and the outgoing setting had once again been changed to +- infinity.

I then logged out and logged back in. Sure enough the outgoing settings were still +- infinity.  I have never changed them!!  So chess.com seems to change these settings while the session is in progress without any user input or request!!

It just seems weirdly anomalous that a site that contains brilliant programming - I don’t think it’s too much praise to say their chess analysis engine is amazing - seems to reset user preferences randomly without them asking.

Problem didn’t occur for a few days but sure enough first thing today - 9/4/2021 - the outgoing settings have been reset to infinity through no action of my own.  Once again I don’t understand why we are allowed to change settings and save them if they don’t remain persistent.  Strange thing is it didn’t occur for a couple of days but now the problem is back again.😡

Im experiencing the same problem....yet again. How hard could this problem possibly be to fix?

This problem was fixed in April 2021 but has now been introduced again in dec of 2021.  I have reported it again as a bug but yet to be fixed.  Don’t understand how there can be an endemic issue about keeping a user setting persistent.  Has anyone else noticed this problem again?

Some of that will likely resolve when the old Live interface is decommissioned.

Not sure what you mean by ‘some of that will likely resolve’?  It is only one thing I am talking about so it will either all resolve or none of it will resolve.  Logged in again just now and the outgoing settings have remained persistent.  Hopefully you are right that decommissioning old live interface will fix it - still strange that something in the system just decides to stomp on and destroy user defined settings.

What I'm saying, and this is partially speculation, is the the two interfaces are the cause of the resets. When the old interface gets retired, it hopefully will resolve that particular issue. I know staff is looking into it anyway, but it's possible that is ultimately the reason.

Seemed to work fine for a few days.  Then all of a sudden settings stomped on again.  Matched with someone ranked way higher than me.  Received a warning about aborting a game that I didn’t want because settings were stomped on!!   Diamond membership coming up for renewal in jan - food for thought about renewing.

Glad it is not happening to you.  I have not changed how I am using the software all year and it not been occurring for months and months.  I’m definitely not sending out custom challenges with rating criteria changed.  The outgoing range settings are being changed without me changing them.  I now have a procedure of checking them before every game - a bit time consuming but not compared to playing a game I suppose.

Problem still occurring as of today.  Outgoing range settings again changed without user intervention to any, any.  Very annoying.  Don’t understand how the persistence of a user setting can be consistently stomped on behind the scenes.

Everything worked fine for more than half a year but now same thing happening again -  i.e. range  settings being reset. Don’t know why this bug keeps being re-introduced?

This has been fixed. You may want to verify your settings  in case they reset before the fix went into effect.

It might have been fixed, but the matching system is ignoring my settings. It's giving me matches well below the minimum I have set. So I abort and it reminds me not to ask for games if I'm not ready to play
