There are 190 countries in FIDE, and 185+ of them have not achieved as much .  Foolish to argue that the US is not a chess country.

Your analogies are off.  The US is more like Italy in soccer, always downplayed each World Cup but somehow has won a bunch of world cups.  As I said, 6 chess Olympiads, 2nd only to USSR/Russia.  That's a fact, US chess history speaks for itself.  Your opinion?  Not so much.  

Fischer was indeed an outlier, but not in a way that really supports your premise.  In the "Russia vs. the rest of the world" of chess history, anyone that comes out of any country to challenge the cultural chess machine that is built on Russian ego and wins the WCC is an outlier.  Oh, I know...he sat in his room all day and taught himself everything without anybody around him that could help him learn anything useful.  It makes for a dramatic story, but it not true, in the same way that Bill Gates did not earn tens of billions of dollars by himself. 

And even if you wanted to keep arguing this route, you'd *still* be wrong about today's situation.  It is no coincidence that Caruana is where he is right now.  It's a result of being in St. Louis with all of it's chess resources surrounded by strong GMs.  Gee, it's almost like being in Russia .

As an American one of my most enjoyable games I've played was against a player from Iran. There was no war cries or any smack talk. Our game play did the talking. In the end we both admitted to enjoying.

That would be like me being a registered Independent refusing to play Republicans and Democrats.
