State Flags When?

The Scotts & Welsh get their own flags despite being in the UK. We'd like to rep our own state. America is pretty broad so playing another America isn't as fun if there could be a state rivalry, which there are many.

If they did America, they'd have to do all the other countries, too. Also, there are 2 Georgia's, one in the U.S., which would get confusing fairly quickly. U.K. is an exception due to some believing that England, Wales, and more stand out from the United Kingdom. They also can think of England and Wales being their own "kingdoms."

We learn chess here. I'm sure the users could figure out geography. I've learned of many countries by playing them online here. I suggest adding the province flags of every other country here too. They could roll them out in more than one release.

Which then leads to city flags, club flags, then National Anthems played for the winner.  Beyond that, there would need to be teams of attendants on standby, ready to present the winner with a sash, tiara, and a bouquet of roses.

Agreed a country flag then after that a state flag or territory flag if a country has it.

It won't necessarily to lead to smaller and smaller districts getting flag icons. That is a straw-man argument. US states are large in population. There is cultural, regional, and competitive value in representing that here. We miss out on that value by not having that option.

It would make chess.com even more political then it already is

I like this idea, but which state/province/etc to have it and not to have it would be a problem. Like do we really want to go this for all countries and cities in Taiwan? Probably not

InterdimensionalBlitz

They would not add state flags, as they would need to add every state flag even from different countries. Chess.com is not just played in the USA, it is played around the world.

Chess.com doesn't need to add other provinces of other countries. They could do that eventually if they so choose. There is definitely value in doing the United States. The US is very big in population and area such that the US flag doesn't have regional value like other countries flags do. State flags, at least as an option, would add value to the community.

Maybe also China, India, or Russia. But I have no idea if all their subdivisions have official flag…

Wales and Scotland are countries.

Hi also if you think it should be implemented best to make a suggestion

Thanks

Even though there are two Georgia's, I assume they don't have the same flag. I would definitely use a Florida or South Dakota flag. Did anyone make that suggestion yet?

They don't.

Yeah, so there wouldn't be a problem with mixing them up if there was a flag for the state of Georgia.
