Suggestion: Multi-layer system to reduce cheating

Hello Chess.com team,

I have a suggestion that could help reduce cheating, especially from disposable accounts.

A lot of cheaters create new accounts, cheat until banned, and then repeat the process. Even though detection is strong, it still affects player trust.

A possible improvement could be a multi-layer system:

  • Email (or optional phone) verification for stronger account creation
  • New accounts must play unrated games before rated games
  • Limit matchmaking between new accounts
  • Continue behavior-based detection (move patterns + accuracy over multiple games)
  • Internal “risk level” for accounts (new → suspicious → trusted)
  • Stronger detection of repeat banned accounts

Combining account restrictions with behavior analysis could reduce disposable cheating accounts and improve fair play experience. Thanks for reading.

Haha, fair enough — hopefully it stays open, I’m just trying to discuss ideas

Discussing your idea on the public forum is doomed
