I've seen games that end on the first move in chess.com tournaments and even won games like that myself. There is however one defect with this system, the games are rated. None of theese results are represientative of the true strength of the players, as the result was not achieved by one player outplaying the other, and it would be good to harmonize with OTB rules. For this reason i suggest that no unplayed game should be rated, where an unplayed game is defined as a game where one of the players does not make his first move (as in FIDE's rating regulations). If a game ends before both players made their first move, my proposed rule would be that the result is counted in the tournament standings but the game does not affect the player's ratings.
I played a game in the international chess day arena where my opponent lost on the first move and the game was rated. I don't know what the rules are in daily tournaments but i want to clarify that this is about live tournaments.
