Why am I seeing ads?

I am a Diamond member. One of benefits of a paid membership is supposed to be "no ads" so why am I seeing ads for Chessable courses? If I wanted to know what Chessable courses were available, I would go to the site and find out.

Is this not an ad?

Honor the membership agreement and get rid of the ads.

That used to refer to the old main chess.com homepage (chess.com/today) I believe that applies to the account homepage now but that allowance has always been on site.

I'm just starting to see these ads recently. I don't remember a "homepage" exception in the membership agreement. Did I miss something?

I don't see a "except on the home page" caveat here. What does "no ads" mean? Where was this exception explained in the membership agreement?

All I know is that site related and direct sponsored chess related ads have always been exempt from that and have been around since I've been a member. They happen occasionally through the years and have been either directly related to a site related product, such as this, a site tournament event, or a sponsor of site events..

They also only show at the top of the homepage and shouldn't return if you click the X at the top right, untill a new one is out or you clear cookies I believe.

Chessable is a different site. Banners for events on the site or other site related content would be fine. This isn't even an announcement, it's an ad for paid product on a different site. That's not what "No Ads" means.

It doesn't matter if I can hide it. That's not even close to the point.

Don't you think that users should get what they pay for?

Chessable is own by a Chess.com company and is directly affiliated. That's one reason it's also in the Learn menu.

As I mentioned, that exception has been in place since at least 2009.

I've never noticed it, but no ads means no ads. "Directly affiliated" has no bearing on it.

If have questions you can always ask support, but as mentioned, that has been the case for at least 14 years.

In searching for some old examples, it appears there used to be a * on the premium page that explained the exception and how/where it is applied. Sounds like maybe it should be returned.
