Why are you letting YGNR accounts flood the forum, chess.com??

I wrote a silly hypothetical conversation RedGirl that was in response to a couple of previous posts, semi-mocking the foolishness of copying and pasting trite disputes. Your long standing feud with RJC is your private affair and was unrelated. Perhaps it rang a bell. It seems ur trying ur best to start one with me, but no cigar. Won't find me going there. You can lighten up a bit, take a deep breath. I think ur looking into posts for stuff that's simply not there, responding with a knee jerk reaction. Cheers. How's the chess these days? Ur right, I'm just an old coot, set in my ways. But you'd be surprised. Some of you young whipper snappers are far more stuck in ur ruts than I. happy.png

I do not feel any such need to copy/paste what I'm referring to. Beyond me ? What a hoot. I care less if people edit their posts. They want to play those games... most can see right through

For such cases - have you thought of simply referring to the objectionable post by # ?

If it's so objectionable, copy and send off a ticket. Why respond with copying it in the very next post ? Think we can't also make our own conclusions? We need to be shown?

Of course copying a post is helpful quite often. But every time ? It's your practice - quite understandable. Just don't find the necessity.

- You sarcastically implied it was a lack of common sense to quote the post.  I pointed out how it is perfectly understandable and reasonable.  If anyone should be "hooting", it would have been me wink.png.  I'll leave the "could care less" vs. "couldn't care less" alone.

- Referring to a post by number suffers the exact same issues I stated.  Think it through.  Referring to a back-edited post does nothing.  Referring to a post number that is now renumbered because a muted or banned account's post has disappeared, likewise, does nothing.  You are aware that the whole thread renumbers and re-paginates when a poster's content is removed, right?

- I did not send off a copy in a ticket because it's nicer to assume that the spammer is unaware of the policy, though unlikely in this case.

- Yes, every time.  Does this irk you somehow?

Oh no ! I edited that post and added a line at the end. Perhaps you'd better copy it again ... just in case

I hope your simple humor is enjoyable to you.  It would be a waste if it were not entertaining for *somebody*...

I dont think anyone can bring message to YGNR now.

Here is the ironic part btickler -

A member posted a link in this thread- advertising his club. We all know this is against TOA. You reminded him of this fact ... and by copying his post -

You repeated advertising his club !!! Making the advertisement twice as visible and at the same time (in a technical sense, also possibly breaking TOA) though no mod would pick any bone with doing as such.

Another poster mentioned this incongruity in a post before mine, pointing out that perhaps if your going to report him, you'd also have to report yourself !

And yea ... I made light of it, the copying and pasting of the objection. What's the big deal? As you explained you have your reasons. Just wasn't too sensible from my view. I agree, my comment was rather spurious, no harm was intended.

Another point while we're here - on this practice of copying posts in making a response. One draw back is a common tactic. Two members, at odds with each other, but in reality are in the scheme together, start in insulting each other. The language and subject matter gets out of hand ... they continue on and on by copying/pasting each others insults creating long strings of quotes. The intent becomes obvious, to spam/hijack the thread. When reading a thread with every response repeated in the next post gets rather tiresome and boring ... but that's just my opinion.

Finally, consensus!  We have enough drama here.  We don't need ygnr.

I can't believe that. YGNR looks destined for greater mischiefs or greater achievements. She was Quwu. Tell her to negotiate truce with Ronald. She is a diplomat after all.

The lazier ones refuse to look it up, complain and blame everyone else.

Except, no.  No "TOA" (you meant TOS, by the way...you are conflating end-user license agreements aka EULA and terms of service aka TOS) involved in a quote.  Just give it a rest.  Your original shot clanged off the rim...it happens.  Don't compound it with a bunch of airballs...

Except that I edit out the multiple levels of nesting quotes when I quote a post, and have been doing it for years now specifically to avoid the phenom you are currently brainstorming about.  I guess I'm just way ahead of you.  Sad, since we're both retired (perhaps my advantage lies in having retired early).  If the trend holds, you'll be quoting posts my way in about 5-7 years...hang in there.

I thought she had a girlfriend.

MustangMate

good point you raise btickler ... your way of responding to each and every post is the best way. No more clanging shots off the rim for me. I'll hang in there for 7 more years and you all will be hearing nothing but net ! How stupid of me, to mistake Terms of Agreement when in fact the issue was Terms of Service. I really can't believe I mixed them up. Ur obviously way ahead of the rest of us - thanks again for the free lesson !

P.S. I'm really starting to love all these grey boxes, re-reading every post twice ... sometimes 3 and 4 times when members quote other quotes who re-quoted. Refreshes the ole noggin, you know, in case I didn't get it the 1st time. I really should learn to be more concerned about members editing their posts, just in case they later need reporting, or they claim I said something I didn't. "Watch your back at all times", "always be looking over your shoulder", "never can be too careful"- all good advice to post by. To heck with plain ole banter, a new dawn is coming to the forums.
