Why do daily tournaments all start up to a week late in recent months?

I play a lot of daily games and tournaments. I've noticed since late winter, every daily tournament with a posted start date *never* starts on that date, and is usually 5-7 days late. No explanation is ever given. Can somebody explain why this is the case?
