After you play enough games the rating system will adjust you to the appropriate place. It really won't take that long to get to a stable point.
I do wish they'd have 10+5 as a common time control. I play that on another chess site and I'm more comfortable with it than 10+0. Whenever I try to challenge anyone with the increment here no one else is wanting to play it.
tbh im not surprised as 10 minutes always felt a bit long for blitz but thats prob just me
thought i was the only one.. my last 4 blitz games or so show up as rapid games. when actually in-game it shows my blitz rating but when its done it says a totally different rating for me and my opponents
I Thought I Was Playing A Ten Minute Game Game Is 1841 My Rapid Rating Is Originally 1892 So I Lost To A 1900 Rated Thought It Was Going To Affect My Ten Minute Rating Instead My Rapid Rating Dropped From 1892 To 1810
That Was A 82 Rating Drop Tried Again Won 3 Games In A Row Now Its 2009 I Gained 199 Rating Points Fix It Chess .Com

Yes you can. Just click on "10 0". I tried it. It works....
The iOS app has been updated to version 3.9.7 which will show 10|0 as rapid now.
so I just played on my account for the first time in 6 days. I won my first game back and went from a 768 rating for a 10/0 game and gain like 200 points to my rating. it went to 955. I only ever played 10/0 that is the time control that I like. I don't understand how changing the time formate from Blitz to Rapid can affect my rating by that much. if someone can help me understand how and why that would be great.
I'm more annoyed that they still lump together increments with no increments as these are two different animals completely (especially in <5 min Blitz and in Bullet) and the ratings being untrue because of it.
It works the same way for FIDE blitz regulations. 3,+2 is the same rating as 5,+0 and up to 10,+0 (though here that last one is rapid now)
I still don't understand why this change influences my rating that much. I play 10|0 and nothing else. Played several thousand games in the last years and my rating was stable, flowing from 1200 to 1400 and back. I understood from the article that only the people that had the blitz rating higher than rapid got their ratings adjusted. After the change my rating grew to 1500+, I'm playing against the people with 1500 and still winning. It would be a pleasant thought that I suddenly improved my skills but obviously not, this happens most probably somehow because 10|0 was moved to Rapid

You can't unless you play something like 5|5 or 8|2

It's still the exact same game it's always been, just under a different rating.
