Why not a dedicated classical time control instead of grouping with Rapid?

I’d like to raise a question about time controls on the platform, specifically regarding the absence of a distinct “Classical” category ( 60+ time control) separate from Rapid.

Currently, longer time controls like 30+ or 60+ are grouped under Rapid, which makes it harder to distinguish between truly classicalstyle games and faster rapid games. On other platforms, classical chess has its own category, and that separation helps both in terms of identity and player expectations.

A dedicated Classical mode (such as 60+ or similar) could bring several benefits

It would better reflect the nature of longer games, which demand deeper calculation and more serious commitment.
It could attract players who specifically enjoy classical chess but feel it’s currently “hidden” within Rapid.
It would allow for more accurate rating distinctions between fast-paced and long-form play.
It could encourage a different competitive environment, closer to over-the-board classical standards.
Is there a specific reason why this separation hasn’t been implemented? And has the team considered introducing a distinct Classical category in the future?

I think this could add meaningful depth to the platform and better serve a segment of players who prefer longer, more thoughtful games

I heard that the guys plan to add separate [Hyper/Ultra]bullet and Classical categories, perhaps it will be done in this century

Don't be too optimistic Chatty, maybe in the next millenium

Joke aside, I'd really enjoy it. Right now, I go to l*chess to play Classical (30+20), they have seperate ratings

And the asterisk definitely does the job:

Anyway, lets wait for the Classical category on chess.com:
