Wrong puzzle rating

Hello! This time I am certain that this puzzle is worth reporting.
I just got up to 2600 in puzzles when I got this puzzle:

The only trap is that Qxf7 doesn’t work because of the rook check, but that’s it.
You just need to take the free queen in one move and you solved the puzzle. This can’t possibly be appropriate for a 2879 rated puzzle.

Wow, that’s unbelievable!

Was the October 2025 before or after the puzzle rating changes?

Seems like it was after the update. This is bad news…

Lets say, it was transient time

However there is much room for improvement. I feel like I am extremely overrated in puzzles because of puzzles that are in reality just as difficult as a 2200 or lower rated puzzle.

The thing is their new method didn’t work very well in equalising rating and puzzle rating my rapid rating is 238 and blitz is 412 whereas my puzzle rating is 1227 - yet i usually find these quite easy .

It's because it gets a lot of victims on Qxf7 so it moves up in rating, that's how it works, so if a bunch of people get a 400 rated puzzle wrong it's moved up to 500, and so on IT.

Basically the people who don't try ruin it for everyone, or chess.com needs to make it better, but I mean they have got a lot of bugs going on and I would say this on their least of their debigging list.

Puzzle ratings don’t need to be equal to live ratings.

Really? I never knew that!
That’s stupid.

I looked at the puzzle for 2 seconds completely ignored the free queen and I wanted to play Qxf7+ lol,

I think players that play quick miss obvious moves that's why the puzzle is rated that high

You ususally already learned to slow down at a 2600 puzzle rating.

Same at the beginning! 😂
I needed like a minute to spot why it didn’t work.

At least until the puzzle ratings stabilize, they're treated like a player in a game. If a higher rated player fails, the rating increases. If a lower rated player solves it, the rating decreases.

There's no Google way to look at a puzzle position, and determine what rating it should be. A starting point would be the player ratings that the position comes from, though that can be influenced by a number of different factors. The best way is to calibrate it based on solver’s performances.
