Lots of trollish types don't indulge in such crudities.

Ahh, even the trolls begin to admit they have problems with this kind of behavior. I hope you guys begin to take note, even trolls dislike trolls :D

AndyClifton

I don't think you're quite catching on, Squar...but as long as you know you're right, I suppose that's all that matters. Wink

goldendog

I guess that makes me the docile variety of troll. Trollus Minorus.

ChessAcademyHQ

I have no problem with light-hearted trolls. The Trollus Minorus is the least of our problems on the site, but the thread wasn't made about that species. The Trollus Majoris is my one concern.

And I am a related member of that order:  Spammus Puppetheadicus.

but why isnt sebleb banned if his first account was deleted???

Could you elaborate, please? I'm not sure I follow. If you could provide any links then that would be great. From what I can tell, Sebleb is nothing of the Trollus Majoris kind and has nothing to worry about.

(Why do I get the feeling that we're going to start getting shipments from Acme any second?)

Nice revisionist history, IM Squarology:

I gave him a warning and he provoked me trying to be clever. If he wants to do that in his own threads, it's totally fine but he did it in my thread. Everybody has the right to create a Chess.com thread to share his/her ideas and chess moves with the world without having to worry about a troll coming in and messing things up.

How dare anyone not provide you with the proper respect that you so obviously deserve.

These distinctions are good :) Now, we'll be able to classify them and act accordingly.

Oh, wow, so you accuse me of revisionist changes but you conveniently leave out the rest where I say he insults others freely and mention a source. Nice.

OF COURSE NOT! Are you kidding me? No way. Believe me, I can understand your frustration. There are people who think they can troll because they pay a small fee for a whole bunch of wonderful benefits and then think that one of those "benefits" is acting like a fool.

Goldcrest, click on "Help & Support" link on the bottom page and then click on the "Contact Support" button on the lower left hand side to create a tickent and formally report these hooligans. You can message me as well in theses case if you'd like. I wouldn't disclose your real username either. It's all up to you.

SebLeb posted a note on my wall because someone had used his avatar pic and a similar name. Guess what happened to that account? Disabled. And we know what happened... The people behind this absurd action are under our watch. I will make sure I keep an eye on them as long I am working for Chess.com.

Being vulgar, petty, offensive is not excusable on this site at all. It's sad that people have come to believe that. One guy was swearing at people freely and I muzzled him for two weeks and people turned around and said I was power hungry and that trolls make this site "fun". I shook my head for good minute at that ridiculous statement and it's pathetic to think how many good forum members we've lost because of that wretched mentality.

hmm well thanks for that Squarology nice to know someone of authourity is on this site. As for SebLeb i know for sure i saw one user with his photo.

AndyClifton

Okay, to recap:  samir's done some hurlin', gg kept a long story long...and sebleb doesn't mean to troll (he just sounds that way).

That's easy for you to say, Tigran (you just turn off your hearing aid).

What? Did you say something?

I got your dope.

I must say that I am deeply surprised and somewhat disappointed to see a staff member lashing out at members with sarcastic comments, narrow-minded labeling, and other unbecoming behavior.

Over my nearly three years on the site, a few people have found any excuse they could to vituperatively attack staff members for snobbery, rudeness, and the like. Of course, these few people were in the microscopic minority, as most people knew the reality: that the staff members have in almost every case deported themselves with proper decorum and politeness.

I mean not to the judge the person as a whole, but I merely point out what I have read in this thread, and it is unlike anything I have ever seen a Chess.com staff member post in the public forums. Surprised

Actually, I've kinda liked it (but then, I kinda like all those things). Smile

Seriously though, I like seeing somebody official acting like a regular human being.  As long as they don't get too high-handed and righteous about it, it's fine with me...and a veritable breath of fresh air compared to the Wall of Memospeak that one all too often runs into everywhere one goes these days.

Somehow I get the feeling you've left something out... Wink

@AndyClifton: Yes, I agree, diplomacy and the ability to relate to people are highly desirable traits. However, I see no reason for words to become negative.

goldcrest85

Thanks squarelogy, you have set my mind at rest. I wasn't attacking premium members en masse, just a few that I have encountered who seem to get away with acting, having been duly reported, with complete impunity in such things as rude messages after games, on people's walls etc, when I know that the abuse policy is actually quite strict here.
