No other diamond members share my outrage?
As a diamond I sure appreciate upgrade ads

No - I never get the ad...
You sure? I just went over to the TT and it's still there. Maybe if I clear my cache it will go away.

What is really absurd is that you pay for anything on the internet.
What I learned in my 'career' using the internet that you can get everything for free. For free and in high quality.
Out of all the purchases I have ever made on the internet only a single one made sense in retrospect: this is a program called Cacheman. This is a system tool which is more powerful than Windows's own process manager. I can shut down programs with it that even Window's process manager can't, and since I do a lot of programming, this is life saving when a program gets loose and starts to eat up the system resources.
Everthing else I have ever paid for on the net was utterly useless and I could have found their equivalent free alternative had I done my research.

Have you ever thought that some of us pay to support the sites we use?
I pay for several sites becasue I use their services and I believe in paying for things I use.

Come on, just by making the clicks here I earn money for chess.com.
Where I feel that my support is really needed, for example at the ad-free open source site I'm playing at currently, I donate.

Donating is not the equivalent of paying.
No one forces you to donate. I have used the said site for months before I made up my mind to make a donation. No one forced me to do so. It was my own decision.
Paying is not your own decision. You have to pay, and you'd better do it in advance, and it is more likely gonna be recurring.

I don't get any upgrade ads. Actually I get no advertisements at all (except event anouncements), as far as I can remember.

All what I have said of course pertains to the case when you actually want to use a service.
At a paying site if I want to be able to use all features I have to pay. There is no mercy.
At my current site I can use all the features as long as I want for free even if I never make a donation. But I did, because I like what they do.

What about non-open-source programmers? Should I pirate their software creations?
No.

I though diamond membership is not worth it, boy i was wrong. Way wrong. I am so happy i have 1 year now. Extremely helpfull chess mentor, no such tool exist the way it is and videos that you will not find anywhere, even some are free in the internet, the way is explained from GM's and the quality is much better here. GM Roman.. man every single video of his is absolutely hilarous and much learning. I already increased my Elo with few hundreds and have 10+ months more. Also tactic trainer, really like it here, nowhere else. You get more that not need to be say anymore, becouse is already worth it.

Good question sir but let's think of the more subtle metaphysics involved here. For if it is true that I can remove the limit on unlimited puzzles, who knows what wondrous things await? That is if unlimited puzzles really are my limit and that limit can be removed, which chess.com weaseled out of by removing the ad. Still, fearful of perhaps rupturing the space time continuim, I didn't exactly cover myself with exploratory glory by not clicking on the link. And now it's too late and we'll never know...
