Automatic translation - pls repeal it

Dear team of chess.com.

First, you are awesome. Then, Happy New Year everyone.

To my request. In chat you automatically translate at least some of my words - not all of them - to my mother tongue. I regard this as highly confusing, even annoying. When I write "Thanks" I want to read "Thanks", not "Dankeschön" or whatever awkward phrases your algorithm comes up with. In other words, I am old enough to find words on my own. No need to pamper an old fart like me with this (maybe well intended) "feature". It's nonsense. Just undo it and everything is fine. Thanks!!!

It's great that you speak English but many of your compatriots don't.

/ If it really bothers you, maybe you should change your language selection to English.

I take it you are a member of the mods? Okay, let me explain. Obviously I failed to be precise.

This function I'm talking about has no merit whatsoever. It translates my second language (English) into my first language (German). Where is the benefit in that? It has no! I am quite fluent in German I can assure you.

To add to this nonsense, only some (simple) words get translated (such as "thanks" --> "Dankeschön"). It's really annoying to get text you're writing in chat get tampered with by a "smart" system. I am clever enough to decide whether to use English or German words. So are ppl that speak German only, or Spanish or whatever. Don't be too smart; no pampering needed here! Switch off this feature, it has but one purpose: to confuse.

I tried your suggestion and set the site language to English. Though I think there shouldn't be a connection between site labels and "smart" chat functions, I think it did the trick. Thanks!
