Perhaps in daily chess one could force autoplay your opponent's move so you can then play your next one.
I know that you can play conditional moves, but that still restarts your opponent's clock, so he can take all 5 days over his forced move then another 5 over his next. This way he can only take 5 days over the unforced move.
