I haven't faced any such problems so far...
Might help is you tell us;
1) What you're expecting to happen
2) What's actually happening.
What I expect: When I hit the back button, the browser should go back to the previous page I visited.
What's wrong: It doesn't always do that.
Example: Start on "Forums". Click on "General". Click on a thread. Click back button - nothing happens. Click it again - nothing happens. Click a third time - it goes back to "General".

I can't reproduce this behaviour. Could it be a problem with your mouse?

Seriously? My mouse?
It doesn't happen in any other application.
It doesn't happen on any other website.
It doesn't happen in Safari, on this website.
It only happens in firefox, on this website.
It's not my mouse.

I tried the sequence you mentioned. I don't face any problem.

Looks like you tried many times. And blaming on mouse may not be right direction

Are you navigating WITHIN the thread?
The simple sequence you cited: FORUMS, general Chess Discussion, topic, <BACK>, <BACK> never fails for me - whether using Firefox or any other browser.
Navigation within the thread (using the Previous and Next links) - on the other hand - has confusing (though consistent) behaviour.
The back button works inconsistantly using Firefox on XP in the forums. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?
