Board display style

It would be nice if the reader of a forum post (blog, article, etc.) could change the style of the board in the post. Sometimes the reader may prefer a different color or 2D/3D choice than the author. Even better would be able to make permanent style choices.

Agree. If I open a post with 3d pieces, I just leave. This game is tough enough without having to try to interpret some weird graphic.

Agreed -- this has been raised and number of times but seems to have fallen on deaf ears.  Sometimes it's not even a question of aesthetic preference -- if I'm viewing chess.com on my net-book I'd like to be able to use smaller boards since I simply can't view the boards on any setting larger than that.  The largest board is a problem for me no matter which machine I use.

In fact, since I use more than one computer to view this site I'd love to have cookie based profiles with distinct settings for each saved locally, and of course to have those settings used universally on this site.

There was such requests before and seems that it is already done. You just click "Analyze" button near PGN at the right bottom of the posted game and you directly goes to 'your style' board 'to analyze', then click "Editor" and browse all game(pgn) in your own preferred style. No problems.

Unfortunately this is a rather clumsy workaround that doesn't work at all with puzzles and ends up presenting the game without it's context (the accompanying comments) and devoid of any annotation.  I don't think this was really the intent of the "Analyze" feature.
