It happened to me 3-4 times, the last one "during" game n° 430261851. I should have won on time, but at opponent's 00.00  the game ended draw for insufficient material, but it was King-Rook vs King!

Anyone have experienced the same problem?

You didn't have enough material to mate.

heinzie

your opponent had the rook and ran out of time. black had only the king remaining which is indeed not enough to checkmate

The object of the game is checkmate.

You cannot mate with a bare King, therefore you cannot win.

Your opponent ran out of time, therefore he cannot win.

The game is drawn.

Okay,

it's only a problem of different rules.
In italian-swiss tournaments I played in, the player who runs out of time loses the game.

Then the tournament wasn't following FIDE rules.

Just for completeness:

=====================

6.9

Except where one of the Articles: 5.1.a, 5.1.b, 5.2.a, 5.2.b, 5.2.c applies, if a player does not complete the prescribed number of moves in the allotted time, the game is lost by the player. However, the game is drawn, if the position is such that the opponent cannot checkmate the player’s king by any possible series of legal moves.
