Chess.com should create its own variant

Wouldn't that be fun - if chess.com had its own original chess variant, created by the staff and members? There are tons of "create your own piece" and "make up your own rules" threads on the forums, and the staff could look through those and see if there are any ideas that they could build off of. If the variant becomes popular it could definitely help to boost membership, and at some point chess.com could copyright it.

Bump.

Now that everyone seems to be talking about V3 and all of the variants they want to see once it is implemented, I think this thread has become particularly relevant. There are a lot of members here with some very creative ideas (as evidenced by the aforementioned threads), and I'm sure the staff, with all of its titled players and technical experts, can put some of those ideas together (with the involvement of the community) into a coherent, fun and complex game.

I'm not saying this should be a top priority, but wouldn't it be cool if, sometime in the future, the biggest chess website in the world could have its very own, self-made variant?

I've played this a few times, by having a third person acting as an arbiter that the two players send their premoves to. However, I think I've more or less solved it, or at least created a strategy that's very hard to beat - just make knight moves, and try to threaten the opponent's king's original square and adjacent squares as soon as possible.

is chess so analysed and computer programmed that it is BORING and new variants are needed

While I do like the idea of creating a custom chess.com variant I think it is much more difficult to creates decent playable variant. Chess enthusiasts have been working for decades to create some variants and then attempt to popularize them. The ones that are still played and the ones less frequently played (like the ones that might need a unique board). It would probably be better if chess dot com incorporated some tested and proven to be fun chess variants. I doubt the oldest ones are patented.

Also why not first give the users the option to play Chinese chess? Maybe Makruk. These are extremely popular variations of chess from China and Thailand. Maybe Atomic or Horde chess.

There is also the risk that these variants would distract players doe playing standard international chess.

What if all pawn captures were done in "en passant" style?
