I don't know that the fully envisioned integration would be easy, but I do think it would be worth it. I'd still like to see it taken one step further and integrated right into the main board for those users with touch-move turned off.
Combine Conditional Moves and Analysis Boards

Yeah, basically that you could use the main board as an anlaysis board, and if you clicked submit partly down a line (or down multiple variations) that it would commit the whole tree as conditionals.
For those who don't have touch-move turned on, when you make a single move and click submit it would appear identical to what the main board does now.

Oh, neat idea. I agree. While we're on the subject of conditionals, I wish they'd implement the wild card option as well.

Yes, and fix the variations so that I don't always have to start from the current position, and (as a stretch objective) recognize transpositions and re-collapse the variation tree.

Yep. (By the way, it's coming up to the two year anniversary of this thread. I wonder if we'll get some kind of response/acknowledgement from a staff member before then).

I doubt we'll ever see it.
Another related feature that might be nice, is to have the ability to optionally include the contents of the "chat" in the appropriate place in the exported PGN. This would of course require that the chat notes be aware of the position/move at the time they were posted, but this request has been made numerous times by other users as well. Move timestamps would be good to include as well.

One potential difficulty out of combining CM & AB is: if the current Conditional Moves interface were used for Live Chess (where use of the Analysis Board is not permitted).

Be careful what you wish for: an optimistic silence is preferable to an "it ain't gonna happen" response!

Actually I'd rather some sort of response either way, so my soul can be at rest.

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean if the pre-move function was built on the same architecture as the conditional move interface? Doesn't look like it to me, and if it were it wouldn't be difficult to separate them.

Not an issue if the current conditional moves interface were used -- we're proposing a new one.

I don't know that it's been noted, but this change would also enable the entry of conditionals while it's your turn -- something that can't be done today.

This sounds like a great idea to me. I always found the conditional moves annoying compared to the rest of the user interface. Sounds like a great improvement.

Another interesting idea for an extension to this would be to provide the option when exporting PGNs to include the chat comments at the position that was current at the time the comment was made. This would, of course, require the chat notes to be correlated with each move (something I've seen requested elsewhere). Now that observers can comment on games in progress you could even optionally incorporate those comments as well.
I can't see it would be that difficult to implement as the feature is already available in board diagrams.
