why don't we have the ad's of people who are on chess.com. so let's say there is a member on chess.com with a business and they are looking to advertise  so if they go to chess.com and ask if they can put and ad on but to stop an inappropriate ad the staff get the chess.com computer to send 10 different members the ad and if they get about 80% yes then the ad will go onto chess.com or instead of having it sent to 10 different members there could be a group where everyone in that group reviews it before it goes on chess.com

I think that might be more work than it's worth to them, littlehotpot.

it was just a suggestion

Firstly, I dont think chess.com has much choice over the ads that are on the site.. they sign up to an add provider which then fills the slots with updated material for them. I assume the ads are checked by the provider so they meet various guidelines etc, so I am not sure how much chess.com can do about it... although as mentioned before I am still new here.

I think there may have been a little confusion over my comments, and possibly the tone of them, for that I appoligize. It is difficult when all you will see at your end is my text on the screen in balck and white. For the record, I am not trying to promote the use of skantily clad pictures of ladies (or men!) in advertising... I am just saying that it is something that is frequently done in todays media.

Do you complain to your travel agents when they show a  life size women in a bikini on a beach advertising a holiday in their shop window?

Do you complain to your local authorities when they have a bill board poster size topless oiled man advertising malteasers?

There are plenty more examples, which I am sure you can think of.

What I am trying to say is that, as long as the ads meet the guidelines, there is (probably) very little chess.com can do about it.. as they need all the money they can get to run this great site! Therefore this type of ads is here to stay, so to try and avoid it and censor it is not really an option.

If anything, you possibly should be voicing your concerns to evony.com or even the advertising trading standards ;)

Suggesting you're the voice of reason implies we are not?

Anyway, there isn't really much to disagree about here...but I support those trying to find solutions.

I agree it's not mega-offensive or anything, but I think back to when I first looked at this site and how impressed I was then with the layout and appearance.  If there had been these slightly sleazy ads popping up then, it would have put me off, wondering what else might show up, and I wouldn't have felt so much like showing it to my children.  I just think they should be as careful as they can to keep the site attractive to people of different ages, nationalities, sexes, religions etc, to get as many joining as poss.

Weird????  I never see evony ads.  Maybe it is because I am in a different country.  No wonder all my ads are not in English.
