Express if you like or do not like the new version of the site

I am bewildered that players find something so sticky about V2 that they are fighting so hard to keep paying for it. I did what the Commander ordered. I went to another site and found the free play there better than what others pay for here. Other sites are free, as is this one, so what the heck, I get what I pay for.  Cheating is out of control and mostly endured.

Now, I would pay for fair game against fair players but that doesn't exist, so when I want a guaranteed fair game, I play OTB or against a computer. I paid for AnalyzeThis and ChessBase because those are great tools. I pay for quality, e.g. Netflix, and I accept low quality, free with ads. It's a shame that all that money was spent on low quality V3, but it's not my money and it's free. Not much thought is given to quality in anything we do nowadays. It's all about ads.

You are correct. The Commander didn't say it. He ordered it. 

Let's face it, free is free, an ad driven site is an ad driven site, quality is quality, and if there ever is a high quality chess site that takes fair play seriously, I'll pay for it. Until then, I'll accept free low quality, as I do network TV.

Sadly, many of your facts, Cmdr, are only true on from a certain point of view. Which perspective? The perspective that nothing could have been done differently: a false premise to base your facts on.

Facts 1 & 2 only speak to the fact that the core software needed to be updated. It is immaterial to the manner in which V3 was constructed. They do not support how V3 was written in its current form. And there's another fault in one of the basic premises all the V3 protagonists have made from the get go about 'core software needing to be updated'… which I will get to later.

Fact 3 only matters if you believe the premise that V3 is the answer, which has yet to be determined. “V3 & V2 running at the same time drains resources and that V3 needs to be fully functional and with speed increases.” Isn't it interesting that the converse is not true? That V2's performance is NOT drastically impacted by the concurrent running of two versions? Ponder that a bit.

Fact 4 – “Due to the knowledge that V2 can not stay no matter who says, WHY in the Bloody Heck are we voting on which you like Better??? It means NOTHING (Hello) (Hello) we can't keep it.” a.) Calm down. b.) That is a paltry argument to make; hardly a 'fact' in my opinion. Again, look at the converse---V2's not had any new bugs for all the concurrent running.

Fact 5 – is not a fact, its a rhetorical question, bordering on a rant. Further, we have not clarified whether V2 can be kept or not. That is a judgment made by higher-ups.

Fact 6 – “V3 completely rewritten on a new Platform programed with PHP components in no way compatible to anything in V2.”. Then Erik and his team made a fatal flaw in the re-write from the get-go. We can re-write this FACT to state just that: “FACT 6: Erik and the development team decided on a platform that was incompatible with V2 with a base User Interface that could never approximate what V2 offered.”

Fact 7 – “V3 GUI was only based on 2 Panes on a page and can never be just like V2 due to V2 GUI having 3 columns per page.” And.. who's fault is that? Who picked the wrong CSS base/code-scheme for V3? Why are you, Martin, & Nimzo all yelling at us who had nothing to do with the errant decision?

Fact 8 – hardly relevant to the discussion, aside to show that V3 cannot become V2.

Fact 9 – “Erik should take down V2 right away like before the 1st completely. C'est la vie” I'm going to ask for a membership refund as soon as he does. Others have stated the same. Are you certain you should be requesting such? Loss of revenue to chess.com just to satisfy the need for the End of this Argument you didn't want to have? Ponder that a bit, as well.

Fact 10 – “All those that refuse to adjust leave and come back when you see how bad it really is out there.” Now you are telling paying customers and potential customers to “git to gitt'n”?!?! Wow…! Arguing with the patrons, that sounds like an ideal business strategy. I mean, who needs customers, right? Wow….! I would love to be in a business where I could just tell the average customer to “take a hike!” I am jealous, sorry. I cannot afford such a luxury in my business.

Fact 11 – “Then and only then will we get strictly input for helping V3 to be better the (Never V3 folks I say it has been nice working with I guess we will see you again.”. Wow. Aside from the departure offactual information, in the same sentence you not only request assistance to make V3 better, but you also tell the same antagonist crowd – scram! Wow. You've labeled many or most of us now as “Never V3 folks” – derisive term towards many here who simply enjoy chess.com the way it has been and do not accept the 'change' being forced upon them. Again, how chess.com can afford to thoroughly annoy its own customers with impunity just astonishes me. Wow…!

Fact 12 – “These past 3000 comments are really for know reason so why bother V2 is gone and can not be saved. So get with the program and help improve V3 or (hasta la vista baby) V2 is over we need to put out of this missionary soon and get the site back to improving V3 moving” Fantastic. As a STAFF-er, you've thrice now, impugned and ridiculed those that do care deeply about this site and the issue at hand. For those that have found faults with V3, how many issues have been resolved in the past 2.5 years? Two and a half YEARS, Commander. For all that duration, V2 has suffered de-functionalization and had run as the main core to chess.com in a dilapidated state – no bug fixes allowed by Erik and staff, no improvements permitted. V2 has just sat around and ran for 2.5 years while the great V3 … improves.

Back toFact 1 – “V2 was built on a Platform this is obsolete. No way to update the core programing not even for security issues.” For being an obsolete platform, how the heck did V2 survive for 2.5 years after being declared obsolete by the staff? Ever bother to cogitate on that point for a bit? How unstable was that platform for it to have continued on for more that two years after being declared DOA? “V2 hasn't had a software update in a very long time” which is irrelevant considering how well it has performed in its decayed state. Do you want to continue to pound thebut Security Issues!!drum?

Finally, I don't believe for a moment that V3's performance is somehow hindered by V2. Sharing the same database is such a farce of an argument. Don't try telling me that V3 needs to 'translate' some SQL code in to a primitive form so the Rows in the Tables conform to what V2 needs. That's hogwash. V3 is slow because V3 is a behemoth; we've shown numerous times in posts here that V3 a.) carriers 2~5x the amount of data V2 does, b.) the layout of V3 engenders MORE data transfer requirements than V2, and c.) V3 requires more processing for everything it does --- a serious design flaw. That is not on V2's shoulders. That's all on the team that decided on a lesser design to an already stable and competent platform.

The FACT is all of the points made by the Never V3-crowd ARE very true and the Cult of V3 are the ones who cannot deal with it. Revert to V2; start over on V3. Go back to the drawing board. I'll forgive you and the other V3 cretins calling us Deplorables. And, I seriously doubt this is the last time.

   You know in V2 there use to be a lot of cheaters, spammers, disconnectors, and dual accounts. When trolls had their accounts closed by staff they would just come back with another account.  You can't do any and all of that stuff in V3. It makes it better for everyone. Thank god venue started this thread. It allows for people to chronically complain about Martin's responces, Commander Riker's responces. Hell, why don't you complain that 2017 is only 4 days around the corner  That should keep you busy for 5 or 10 pages.

Some people just have to have something to complain about.  And with the added bonus of online annonymity, it seems to bring out the worst in people.

I hope I will not occupy any memory cells in your brain, you don't deserve.

FYI Romania has one of the lowest carbon imprint, I cannot say the same about US or China.

they solved the problem of cheaters on V3?...I would like to think that is true but without face to face interaction there will always be some doubt on mind vs mind strategies without the help of a cheaters tool ...Analyze...

analyse speeds up the process thus saving data it dosen't give tips ,the results button beside notes gives move after move

I am afraid that everything that you said was fixed is still quite alive and kicking. However, if V3 is suppose to fix all this, I would like to report a gigantic bug. The owners may want to ask for a refund from the developers of V3.
