@ David>>> Thank you very much!
By the way, Where did you find that ugly member/avatar example!? ![]()
I still dislike the new site. The more upset I am that you deleted the link to the old site today.
Therefore I'm leaving now without playing, don't know when to come back.
there is a symbol consisting of two curved arrows where the words 'old chess site' once lived....
the evil moderators... and censors.. continue to find ways to silence the opposition to the v3
you guys have no link to version 2?
Sure at anytime you can type in your address bar www.chess.com/switch it will work in both directions. V2 to V3 and V3 to V2. Good Luck
its torture i was attempting to access an opponents games who I strongly suspect is an engine user and it was like watching paint dry waiting for the clunky boards to load. I ended up downloading the pgns and putting them into another chess site for analysis, man it worked like a dream.
I too had major lag issues trying to access daily games. Often the page just timed out, a pop up appeared "not available". Stopped playing daily. Nobody from staff is addressing this lag issue, which many are having, except to say "they're working on improving the situation".
V2 or V3, robbie?
A liar or a falsely accused?
I was simply asking robbie a question to clarify the situation.
I do not have, nor do I anticipate, the slightest chance of any kind of disagreement.
V3 is not much good because
(1) it doesn't work properly in too many cases
or
(2) where is does work, you need to hover, scroll, delve, view 30 videos, Pm C-R or erik or David or any other expert willing to help, refresh, get a new Computer, or new apps, and this in many cases V2 did it very easily anyway. \
If it does not work in V2, that is because V2 is on the way out, and is not going to be fixed, and is being degraded by yhe improvements, and apparently not being compatible woth new packages amd technology.
No, the paid up players have many exclusive rights for certain, but everyone pays up ultimately. But, to have to endure the ads here is to pay more than the mere <$200pa I have to here.
But, I do feel that as a dollar paying member, that the spirit of the contract has been broken. Surely, there is an implicit obligation on the provider to maintain the level of service provided in the first place, and that the price remain the same in real terms, (i.e. adjusted for inflation).
Presumably, the proprietors are of the opinion that we are getting a better deal than ever from V3.
I wish I could agree.

both, in version 2 you cannot download the pgn of the games so I had to switch to version 3 to do that and believe me its way clunky.

Imposition by attrition.
A further and unsubtle way to try to get everyone on V3
In the live tournament window now to watch Titled Tuesday... despite all that wasted space below the board, i get alerts to say so and so is online or offline down the bottom right-hand-side of the screen, ON TOP OF THE CHAT... well thought out...
Paid members don't get a vote on v2 staying - nobody gets a vote and apparently nobody has a voice in the matter.

pure skullduggery
I don't get chess.tv -- all I see is one dude with more hair than a yeti commenting and switching games as he likes.
Is that all there is to Titled Tuesdays? If so, what a waste... I'd rather be in charge of which game(s) I watch and no channel surfing commentary from a Yeti-wannabe.
By the way: Home Page load time in v3 - ~13 seconds. v2 - ~4 seconds.
v3 is never going to beat v2 in performance - ever. Any monkeywith-¾-a-brain can comprehend that.

They seem to say that they had to change, as otherwise V2 would simply cease to work properly, anyhow.
Can anyone recall what was the ostensible reason for this calamitous change in the first place?
Chess.tv is unwatchable. Aside from the Yeti who switches games faster than I can recite the first word of the US national anthem, the feed is horrible. It lags and has to rebuffer every 10-12 seconds, putting a lag in the feed for 5-6 seconds. In that amount of time, the Yeti has gone on and the stream has skipped so many moves, it is impossible to follow.

@Chess.com STAFF - to be sure, I double checked, my web browser's not remotely close to being at max-cache. I had no other streaming programs (such as spotify or youtube) running in the b/g. I do not recall ever having streaming blockages of this sort when v2 was able to broadcast chess.tv.
The broadcast page's calendar took close to 30 seconds to load. I got to enjoy this screen shot for a good 25+ seconds before something appeared.

Hello Commander,
I think that the messaging in V3 is much better than V2.
However in V2 I used to be able to type in the members avatar name and get all the messages from them and to them quickly.
In V3 I have to go back and fish through the messages.
Can that be changed/corrected, OR do I need to use a different method that I am unaware of?
Hello Bishop
There is a much quicker way in V3 to send a message without going through your inbox. The key in any icon based site is the hover function of the mouse. Just hover over their avatar anywhere on the site and a small menu of icons will drop down. Click on the little envelope and it will bring up a message window for that person without leaving where you are on chess.com. Cheers
