Express if you like or do not like the new version of the site

Don't have an answer for everything but if I can answer a question, especially when one of the quote posts addressed me directly, I will.  

I have it on good authority that they are integers and there are more than one of them 

These things are good: ice cream and cake, a ride on a Harley, seeing monkeys in the trees, the rain on my tongue, and the sun shining on my face.

These things are a drag: chess.com's V3 UI, dust in my hair, holes in my shoes, no money in my pocket, and the sun shining on my face.

Someone at Chess.com clearly thinks; "if they will just try the new site, they will like it."   That or; "We have put too much time and energy into this to abandon it, they will just have to get used to it."   Once again we have to log into the new site to get to the old site, which requires us to again log in.   Yes we have tried your new site.  It is very distracting with too much going on.  We want to play chess we want to learn chess but it's like trying to play in a dark dance hall with a disco light splashing around.  The screen sides are dark, there is too much going on.  The game needs to be the focus not all the other stuff. The key is to simplify and add lightness. The game is interesting enough on it's own.

You shouldn't need to log on to switch. Try using www.chess.com/switch

You also should need to switch after. The way it worked before v3 became the default is that switching added a cookie variable. As long as the cookie doesn't get deleted you should get the same version until you manually switch.

I do not like the new vesion of the site. I love the old site.

This I do agree with. I've got my theme set best I can but the black pieces are still tough to see

there are many different styles, I use Alpha and is alright, but for sure it is another drawback that you have to go and change it every time is lost or every time you try a new theme, V3 is a never-ending story.

So far I am not happy with the new site. Do not like the color layout on the home page. As a color blind person, it is hard to tell which boards are active. Either add more contrast, or put a black square around the active boards. Do not like that players names have been moved, from the top and bottom of game boards. Do not like that in some views the move notation is shown in columns ( which I like) and in others, is shown in paragraph form (which I do not like). The font in the paragraph form is hard to read. I would prefer columns, or at least make the move number a different color or font. Do not like that videos, tutorials and such are on the home page. Why is the daily puzzle found under the Share tab and not under Learn? This is going to take some time to get use to. A lot of the icons have been changed for no good reason. Instead of a simple choice of Yes or No, now you have a check mark or an X. Both are commonly used to select a choice. This just makes things more confusing. It took me some time to find the Explore button. Analyze has it's own icon, Explore should too.  Ok, I am done venting. You could have made the site better, without changing everything.

Persons working on software often think that change = better. They would be fired if nothing had to be changed ;-)

I like being able to see how many views each of my threads has, and that information is easily accessible in V2. I hope the staff includes the information in V3 before V2 is completely phased out.

Should be  a V3.5 for trolls!

I will quit the site the moment the old style site goes away.  I have never seen an uglier site redesign.  If they think they can cram a redesign this horrible down my throat then they are mistaken.

The new site is too busy!

You should be able to turn those off in Settings > Daily Chess  under

• Show Tactics on Home Page
• Show Lessons on Home Page
• Show Videos on Home Page

just toggle those to off. Kind of weird the settings are there but I believe they only show when you have no active games. I don't have them on my home, even though they are on, since I have an active game.

I just realized why people don't like V3. It's because it makes them feel uneasy to see everything on floating tiles without a firm base like in V2. It really looks like a bunch of white tiles floating on a dark background. I know it's a very small and subtle thing but it makes a lot of people uneasy subconsiously and they come out and say they don't like the interface, when asked for specifics they don't know what to say.

I haven't seen any major site that had a succesful run use this kind of interface - Google, Facebook, Linkedin you name it. Windows 8 tried it and it was rejected pretty badly by the consumers.

Something to think about, but I'm sure they can't do anything about it because they've already spent too much time and effort on this.

I can cope with the aesthetic changes, but the actual chess playing part of the v3 website doesn't function properly on my iPad.  I mostly used the app to play chess even prior to v3(and will continue to do so), but v3 is definitely a downgrade for me.  It also crashed my browser the first time I tried to post this reply.  I'm hoping for the best, but in the short time I've used v3, it's not looking promising.
