Whether or not the new version sucks or not is subjective.

edit: knew I should have quoted
To those that don't like V3:
1. Have you submitted a ticket to staff explaining your reasonings?
2. Do you actually plan on leaving?
3. Will you stay and complain?
My 10 cents worth on consumer resistance: The very old chess site in days of old allowed for customization of the home page, with music videos, private chat functions, pictures and whatnot. Very user friendly with Audi precision. As the site developed it's become more geek in nature, like a bread knife masquerading as a Swiss army knife. Cold and clinical and confusing. Much of it aimed at people with time on their hands. Stuff that suits the unemployed marking time, those obsessed with chess, or pensioners. The older you get the less modernization impresses you. The younger you are the more social you are. The balance between v2 and v3 has a long way to go to meet the average person's needs. Erics job in his leadership role is to take his customers from out of their comfort zone and into a new improved world. As it stands, v2 will be with us for some time to come as a bad early transition has the very real potential of trusted customers departing

Just my opinion...
V3 is easy to navigate, it just takes getting used to. IMO, a big part of the issue is people are impatient.
Teething problems and testing customer needs are to be expected. I personally find the new layout design overloaded with too much stuff that ruins the aesthetics and complicates my mind.
Less is more - Mies van der Rohe

Really? v3 is more spartan than v2. More streamlined if anything.
If I was designing the site I would work around 3 or 4 central points i.e. a chess board, friends, teams and messages. Then add an option section to customize your homepage. This will allow users to select what they want
I hope that the old version will not be closed!
Hopefully someone cares about us. We want to continue to enjoy the old but good things for us.
Are you willing to pay for the old site?
Are you willing to pay for the maintenance of the old site?
Are you willing to pay more for Erik to support 2 versions of chess.com?
Its not feasible, and doesn't make sense.
on the playing site I couldn't find the three basic buttons "draw", "resign", and "log out". So when I wanted to resign, I couldn't do that, intead I had to let the clock run down. And I couldn't log out properly. Very user-unfriendly.
I do hope you don't close the old version, otherwise I wouldn't play anymore.

I don't like the new format and when I tried to go back I got the message that I'm not eligible
I think that is an app message.
Don't insult the past. Why call it trash?

Exacly, you are too good to be exposed to the trashy v2

Venue Ofcourse. I pay for V2 now and want to do forever.
I play v2. I play a lot of Tactics Trainer puzzles. I show the clock and the first thing I look at is what is the average time.
Bofore the clock starts I want to know if it is a short puzle or a medium length puzzle or a long one. In v3 I don't have that option. That stinks. I often don't have time to play a game so I play about 20 or so TT puzzles every day. If I have to go to v3, I will seriously consider dropping my premium membership.
I think chewing tin foil while shaving my head with a cheese grater would be more fun than using this version.
