I don't doubt that it will take somee getting used to. i don't doubt that after i use it for some time I will  like it better.

However, if a key feature is missing, that is not a case of getting used to the new version. That is a case of it being bad.

What "key" feature are you talking about here?

Thank you all for your feedback! I read every single comment and try to respond personally where I can. Again, we are here to make it BETTER! I love hearing about SPECIFIC things that are not working, or that you cannot find.

That said, I know that any change can be frustrating at times. Happens to me too with websites and apps! But I promise you - give V3 a chance and you'll wonder how you ever liked v2!  (Just like when we went from V1 to V2!)

No! V3 does not deserve a chance!

Oh, Erik!

PLEASE hold Version 2 two or three years active.

I do not want to be moved to another space!

There must be some way not to leave this stable ship!

Erik can keep both version going if:

He raises prices

Hires more staff/mods - has to raise prices.

It makes no sense to keep 2 versions of the same wesite.

Erik works 28 hours a day as it is.

Haha. It's not about money, it's about technology. It's like asking for us to keep building VHS into streaming boxes.

Keeping V2 around prevents us from doing things like:

- Upgrading to PHP7 (which will make the site MUCH faster)

- Better caching techniques (because again, the data is shared between two codebases)

- Updating databases (because schema changes, etc)

V2 just has to go away so we can move into the future.

But again, it WON'T go away until we have addressed the usability issues that some people are having, and when all of the features are complete and working.

I know there is a sense of comfort with the design and feel of V2. And there was for V1. And there was for old Yahoo. And for old Google. And for the first iPhone. And for Blackberry phones. And for car stereos with analog knobs. It's hard to get used to new things! I know it. But once you give it a little time, it's exactly the same and you love it. And then you love it so much that you get angry at the next version

What key feature is missing? You can play unrated easily and the method isn't much different than v2. In both you have to create a custom challenge.

I said it in comment #107, but I can say it again.

I play v2. I play a lot of Tactics Trainer puzzles. I show the clock and the first thing I look at is what is the average time.

Bofore the clock starts I want to know if it is a short puzle or a medium length puzzle or a long one. In v3 I don't have that option. That stinks. I often don't have time to play a game so I play about 20 or so TT puzzles every day. If I have to go to v3, I will seriously consider dropping my premium membership.

Avatar of Martin_Stahl

Sorry, you had posted about unrated and I didn't remember you posting that.

My guess is that was removed as knowing the time can give a hint to how complex the puzzle is.

Avatar of JustADude80

Yes and yes. I did post about a different matter as well. And yes that is probably why they removed it. However, I like getting that hint.

Avatar of Martin_Stahl

Well, erik is reading these so maybe it will be added back. I know I completely turn off the timer so I didn't notice happy.png

Had to switch to v2, turn the timer back on to see what exactly it does there (it has been a while).

Terrible. Was there something wrong with the old one?
