I am getting pop ups with fake flash player updates almost every time I play. Is this happening to anyone else?

Yes, this is happening to me as well.

I definitely do not have a virus - it is an ad that redirects users to a site where it asks them to install a flash player update.  See the link that RonaldJosephCote inserted above - I put in screenshots of the popups.

I have contacted the support team.  They do seem concerned with the issue - as they asked for more information on the versions of software that I was using - but I haven't heard back from them.

In the mean time, I edited my /etc/hosts file to not allow DNS queries to the offending redirect sites.

I did not have flash installed... I had to install flash then uninstall it. This may alleviate this issue.

I switched to another chess site. Problem gone. These problems with chess.com are all over reddit.

I think the pop up/redirect is loaded with a few of the ads playing in the sidebar.  The site should monitor the ads to make sure they are not malicious subjecting the users to cross site attacks.
