The first 2 are good, the last one isnt possible to implement. Smile

I agree with all of these. Unfortunately, if the third system were invented, it would be abused by "sore loser" types. Perhaps if the third system WERE to be invented, it could be a Members Only exclusive function. That way, we could be reasonably sure that if people paid money, it wasn't just to rate someone poorly.

Also, don't you think they should separate VoteChess into rating groups similar to tournaments? That way people on certain levels would be discussing similar thoughts instead of fighting each other all the time.

I was suggesting how the website could impliment these features. Why do I need to be a paying member to offer feedback? They should pay me for such a service. This website isn't making as much money as it could.

I like the ideas but I don't think any of them would work.

1) I love to recieve take backs when I miss a 1 move fork but hate to give them back when someone mouse slips.

2) I would only agree to continue the match if I am on the side that has lost on time.. otherwise I would flag my opponent.

3) I would give everyone who beats me a thumbs down for skill and sportsmanship because they are all cheating and it shouldn't ever be possible to win against me.

1) Allow players to mutually decide whether or not to allow a takeback.

2) Allow players to mutually agree to continue a match, even after time has run out.

3) Allow players to rate our opponents on skill and sportsmanship.

1. No doubt would lead to whiners posting in the forums and going on about how 'non-takebackers' are cowards.

2. Why bother using a clock in the first place?

3. This sounds OK. But I suspect it would become a victim to those small-minded people who get bent out of shape because you won't accept a rematch challenge or some other petty little thing.

Lol, I've gotta say, Ego in the chess world (especially in 1 min games) is highly amusing.

I think the number of takebacks allowed per account should be limited and increased only in accordance with the amount of games played. For example, you earn a new takeback request every 50 non-bullet games played.

The continue to play option I like. There have been some games I was interested in playing beyond their expiration, but that's not an option.

#3 again I think should be a members only feature to minimize the "sore loser effect"

Well, based on my perception and experience of the challengers I have encountered, not limited to all but by enlarge, the populous, my best guess would have to be these ideas would certainly fail when the applications are under motion.

Think about the stipulations that chess.com had to recently implement to remedy the lack of sportsmanship amongst players. As much as I would like to see a utopian fantasy like that work.. its simply not practical. Trolldumb is indigenous to online chess. Its essentially nothing but trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls.

Do you for one second think that if you gave people the authority and power over skill and sportsmanship rating that it wouldn't just hit the fan.. like in a hurry?

Let me give an example. I throw up a live chess game, 5 minutes a piece a half an hour before I have to catch my bus to work. I catch my opponent with a crushing fork and they resign and offer a rematch but #Igottajam So I leave the server and go to work. Sometime later, I am finally finished with my ridiculous job and want to play a game.. Login and bam, thumbs down, I have a demerit for my sportsmanship/skill because I had to take a work break and couldn't play.

Just one example but its pretty obvious that kind of thing would happen all of the time and it would create even more spam in the forum.

Take backs are already possible in unrated games, but I have seen the exact scenario I mentioned at least a couple hundred times on the fics server. mock mock mock I NEED TAKEBACK.. (once they realize they are in trouble after you play the move) Once you reverse the scenario and its you that needs the take back and its obvious that it was a mouse slip.. you have another thing coming.. 99% you will not get a takeback or at least I didn't.

second one .. basically the same thing as the takeback issue but I guess if the person who lost on time already is still lost because of the time.. its fine but it does seem kind of pointless

No to all.

I am new to this site, it absolutely blows. Seems to me the admins need to fix very basic problems before doing this type of stuff. Good ideas though.

@OP: Your first suggestion is already implemented on the site. Both players may agree to a take-back game when creating the seek.
