Game Explorer timeout

I just wish that I could have a little more time to study variations with the Game Explorer. Sometimes when I am deep into some system, if I go away for a while to cook my food or meet with friends, when I return back, the board has gone dead, and I will have to start all over, maybe 20 moves into some opening that I haven't looked at too closely before. My feeble memory doesn't even always allow me to recall all those moves. Could it not be allowed to get a little more leeway before you get kicked out?

Cheers -taeto

I don't know why Game Explorer would time out, but you can open Game Explorer at your current position in 2 clicks (even if Game Explorer's database has no games containing your current position).

Thanks for the swift answer! I haven't used the site for about a year, because of those problems, but got, "by mistake" charged for an additional 12 months. Now I attempt again to use the Game Explorer for opening training for my ICCF tournaments.

I still get timed out regularly. Usually by getting deep into lines, then having to do something else, then retiring to sleep, having to go to work the next day, and having been kicked out when I sit down to continue the day after. But I have learned to copy and paste the score of the opening before I leave the screen, so I can pick up fairly readily again later.

A small detail that bugs me now is that, sometimes there is only one unique game in the database, which has continued by some particular move from that particular current position. And then to explore the line further, one gets into just a single game's score and has to follow that until the end. But then how about all other games in the database that reached some of the positions in that single game, and how about the ways in which they branched out into other lines? Why does not the Game Explorer always stay in the mode where it displays information about all games that progressed from a certain position or by transpositions? It does not seem relevant whether only one game proceeded by some particular move from the current position, when possibly lots of other games went into the same position after some transpositions.

Trying to use the Game Explorer, it really starts to bug me how when I go away briefly to cook food and eat, or answer a phone call, when I return it turns out that I have been kicked out by a timeout. I really wish that game Explorer timeouts would occur less frequently. Or alternatively, that I could pose a request with it to reactivate itself when I have time to return.
