Group Protest

The best way to deal with this is to contact support, like you are supposed to. You cannot possibly expect the staff to check every single post made in the forums.

Admiral_Kirk

It says somewhere that the best way is to contact support, because it helps them keep track of the issue. Has anyone here tried sending to Support before getting mad because you didn't use the channels you're told to?

if i count the waiting time since i have contacted with chess.com staff, it has been already 12 weeks now, at least.

Admiral_Kirk

And that was through Support.chess.com, correct? I'm not saying it wasn't, but I'm asking if it wasn't.

i0NE

Exactly ! Supposed to! I think you also supposed to read all these comments before post yours?! Then you'll discover why we've here :)

Admiral_Kirk

I'll be honest, my patience has waned after seeing so many people not contact support via the link. I did not read the 7 pages of this topic, so I am sorry if I offended someone on some way.

OK, thanks, I just wanted to be sure.

Dark_N_Stormy_Knight

That's what this entire forum page is all about, Staff has been here and promised to fix everything and we're all waiting to see what happens.  Occasionally a new one wanders in to point out what we should all be doing without reading the other 8 pages, but who could blame you for that.

landwehr

ok

kohai

It is on the list of things to do I have said this and I said it wouldn't be immediate. Mailing support means you get the same answer posted here that you will on a ticket. The programmers are working on it and staff nagging them won't get it done any sooner :(

I appreciate the fact that it's on the "to do" list (seriously) and the fact that thematic options work correctly for individual game challenges indicates most(?) or at least some of the "legwork" has already been done and shows me what to look forward to.

THANKS for paying attention to this issue!

conrad9

7 weeks is objectively unreasonable. But in context, timestamping live chess has been an issue for over a year now and still unresolved. Maybe all coding work is outsourced using contractors for incremental updates? That's the only conclusion I can draw from this. And I'm not trying to troll here, there just seem to be issues on this site that arise that anyone working in the tech industry knows are trivial to fix and/or implement. Certainly doable in a timeframe like this.

Dark_N_Stormy_Knight

Well put Balachandar and conrad.  I wonder if it would be easier to undo what they did to make the problem, restoring everything to former conditions, then solving the other problem in a more efficient way.

blunderbar

come on chess.com - are you sure you are staying focussed on your users?

scotch gambit is fun - why spoil that?

well done nikre - good effort

i0NE

Its back, SG opening are back...thank you kohai & Chess.comSmile

Dark_N_Stormy_Knight

They still have a long way to go.  I'll probably drop to a gold membership in 2 weeks when my membership expires as my loyalty has to be earned.

nikre

Thank you Chess.com.

now Scotch Gambit opening is available for making new game/match, although it is not listed among that drop-down list of openings, but it can be found by typing the name in opening search option. I didnt try other missed openings, but i guess they are also can be found now.

i was wondered if it was hidden behind that search option all the time, but it was confirmed by 'rio_boi10' that it was added recently. thanks to rio for this discovery.

anyway, our quest ended here, thank you once more chess com.

regards, nikre

Dark_N_Stormy_Knight

Nikre, explain how that works, I can't seem to figure out how to start a tournament with say Scotch gambit.
