For some of us, it wouldn't matter how many layers of confirmation there were. Nope, we need a "DO OVER" button. I might become a paying member for that. All those times when I realize I made the fatal error 10 moves earlier ...
I think what's going on is that he might not have a SUBMIT button at all. If he's playing on the "touch-move" setting, a SUBMIT button doesn't appear--I think. (I've actually not checked this out yet.) In that case, neither the game's mainpage nor the analysis board would have the SUBMIT button, which results in his getting the two windows confused.
A new Submit button is all I ask for. This one.
But nobody would be expecting that!

What exactly would be the profylactic approach to the spanish inquisition? Submission aside, that is..?
The difference between the analysis board and the regular board is that analysis board doesn't have the Play/Learn/Read/Forums/Resources/Members/Groups/Local/Fun/Home Menu at the top. And the regular board doesn't have a "close window" button.
@LegoPirate: Good points. But those are somewhat more subtle differences between the two windows. Ultimately, the OP is solely responsible for his (hasty) actions, and I concede that he should be paying more attention to those differences. Still, a SUBMIT MOVE button would help to further distinguish the windows, and one can see that, without such a button, the windows can look a bit similar at a glance.
Maybe we could have a system similar to minute-man nuclear missile site launchers , (white moves a pawn ,let"s say 1.d4 / both players have a code book , each has a key . after each player receives an email - verifying the secret code , at a pre-arranged lapse of time when both keys are turned . the move is locked in . too late to say NYET !
Yeah I laughed :) and yes I changed my settings so my question got answered and no I would have not quit I was just upset. Funny enough the person I played with gave me a draw and a rematch :) I love this site and the people on it :)

No I think he really thinks tha annalysis has a submit button OMggggggg !!!
sounds like you should just commit to the game, and not switch screens. that isn't chess.com's fault.
Process to submit a move (suggestion):
1) enter the move
2) hit submit
3) Answer the "are you sure?" question.
4) Answer the secret question you have set for yourself
5) Enter the barely readable displayed word (isn't that fun?)
6) Agree with terms & conditions for submitting the move
7) Answer the are you sure you agree with terms & conitions question
8) Read a warning that if you agree the move will now finally be submitted
9) After the move is submitted you have 2 minutes to take the move back before it is played on the board
10) 30 seconds before the 2 minutes deadline has passed you will get a pop-up regardless of what you are doing that reminds you, that you can still take back your move.
11) If the pop-up is ignored for 29.5 seconds, the system wil automatically take back your submitted move.
