inflated ratings

Hello,

I am experiencing an inflated rating that is a bit frustrating.  Im quite new to chess.com, and my rating is subject to relatively large fluctuations with a win.  My concern is this:  Quite often I become involved in a game where - for whatever reason - the opponent just stops playing, and their time expires, and my rating takes an unwanted, undeserved, jump.

Im wondering if there is an option for members to deny these types of rating increase.

Any tips or comments are appreciated.

It will even out over time. Just keep playing.

Play more games, your rating will stabilise soon.

Remember, if some people disable these increases and others dont the the ratings will be even more volatile than they are now. So, nobody does it, or everybody does it.

So, we just stick to the rules.

There's a checkbox in your Online Chess Settings to force a win when time runs out. You can uncheck that and it might help.

Thanks for your comments and advice everyone. Unchecking the checkbox in the Online Settings seems to do the trick.
