iPad app suggestions

Overall this app is very buggy & unreliable & doesn't match the easy, smooth user experience of the actual chess.com site. Once the board is up, it looks & feels beautiful but the rest of the app operation feels clunky & inelegant. It doesn't support landscape orientation on the iPad. The app's home screen "badges" are almost always incorrect (they read the wrong number of games). Often sections of the app will freeze & not display (eg. Tactics Trainer is just a white screen, the top menu of the Online section will be blank, etc). Just now a game came up in the Online section, showing that my opponent had made a move, but I opened the game up & the most recent move is my own. My apologies for being full of criticism but that is my experience of the app... it needs a lot of work to be up to the high standard of the actual chess.com site. Please address some of these issues? Thanks for reading.

OK I was just training with the iPad app in tactics trainer & it told me I had run out of daily problems. As a diamond member I'm supposed to have unlimited daily problems? Please fix this app.

I agree - it's rubbish for the reasons you've given.

I'm so sorry to hear about all these negative experiences you're having with the app.

Can i ask when was the last time the app was updated (date? )

Did you install it over the previous version or completely remove the old version first?

The iPad app is low quality for reasons already stated and others, but the website is outstanding and just needs a few things, mostly cosmetic.

02/05/2014.  Online and Tactics games freezing.  Using Apples IOS 7.0.6 on both iPhone and iPad Minnie.   Both machines in Settings/About show Chess.com iPhone App V2.11.8.    I can move to the next game or problem in Tactics and just don't get a rating change on the iPad and sometimes on the iPhone, but the iPhone frequently is totally locked up.  I tried reloading the App which downloaded from the Apple Cloud, so I didn't get a new version.  The iPhone ran like a much more rapidly without stopping for about 15 minutes or 25 moves.  So I Logged Off and did the same on my iPad and it still siezed up after about 15 moves.  I went to the  I Logged off and all the lost responses came in one at a time before it logged off.  So I went to the iPhone and it too started having problems.  My Windows 7 and 8 machines and my Android Kindle Fire both run with no problems.  I'm going to try to get the Chess.com version off my cloud and see if I can get a new one from the App Store.  I definately think Chess.com has some serious problems with this freeze.  Otherwise I like the limited information and play on the Apple phone and tablet.  I think the Apple Mac is okay as a friend of mine has not had any problems with the freeze.  Good Luck.

I really only have two issues with the iPad app version….

1) Landscape or horizontal orientation makes the board much smaller. Why? They ought to move the accompanying information and boxes around so that the board and pieces stay the same size as they are or vertical orientation

2) there aren’t as many options for reviewing games, and other things, on the app as there are on the web browser version.

I’m not sure how easy it is to fix the second problem, but the first problem seems very easy and logical.
