As you seem to be impatient to get on with games quickly why not play with a shorter time control?
Kicked for Swearing at a time waster?!!!
Why are you complaining about a "time waster" as you put it?? You are playing a game that has built in time perameters and your opponent wants to "waste" their time, so be it...
Wasting your time, as well. But you're a premium member and can play multiple games, so it doesn't affect you.
I do understand what you are saying, your opponent is wasting your time in a sense as well. But that is part of the game, time management.
Yes, I am a "premium" member. But I virtually play NO / very little LIVE chess here on this site. 95% of my games played have been "correspondance". The only "live" games I play are on Tues & Thurs nite at my local chess clubs.
I agree with Nitemarecreator. If the game has 10 min time controls, then that means that each side has up to 10 minutes to make their moves. Period. If one side wants to use 7 of those minutes to think of their next move in a lost position, it's their choice. Every time you start a 10 minute game, make sure you have at least 20 minutes of spare time to "waste."
It's not thinking about the move, it's deliberately taking all the rest of the time (and running out before they make another move) to annoy the opponents. HotJock, you should not feed the trolls.
Well, i am playing a youngster who is completely lost but who takes 3 days per move because he wants to reach 1600 points before i beat him. I told him this is very silly, but he is determined to reach 1600 and cannot afford his loss.. I have been thinking about resigning so that he can fulfill his wet dream. I am only a queen up and 2 moves away from mate. Never experienced this before...
When I get mad, I just say "I will find you and I will hurt you". It is way more comforting than using swear words. And you never know I may be CIA.

(Guess Premium members are entitled. NOT! Heh. Life is like that. They play "real" games on other sites and mock "free" members in chat forums. Cool.)
(Nothing worse than an kibbitzer who just says, "that's not an double-standard, ________". Just ta say it, and completely missing the context. Ack...trolls with no originality. Life is like that. Their importance is relied upon by piggy-backing off of others and no independent thought other than being "funny"-in their mind. Heh).
The point that some are missing in this discussion is that when someone bails and walks out with 8 minutes left, the remaining player has to maintain a vigilant watch of the non-moving board. The point of playing a game of chess is to play a game of chess, not to watch the board not change. Furthermore, to not watch the board allows abusers to game the system by hoping that you will not maintain a watch and therefore lose on your own time control.
Although I am sympathetic to the complaint of the OP, swearing is annoying. So, don't do that.
Agreed. For me, i'm not condoning the OP's obviously rude conduct. But i can understand his point. I've already mentioned what i would've done, my common response to such an situation. But ta dismiss the overall connotations of pointing out out what is/has been problematic for soo many besides the OP is just to be an good lil "free" member n never to complain or genuinely want to make everyone's experience better for all.
When I said "dipstick", I was just being polite. If I wasn't, I would have said "fruit cake".
I am also calling you a dipstick. But don't take it as an insult, rather take it as irony...
...or a palindrome.
I always have ICC, FICS and Playchess.com open to start another game in case I run into a clock sitter... Also, there's like 1 million things I follow on the internet and can refresh my coffee, etc.... Also, I have always wondered if a clock-sitter does their thing EVERY time they have a losing game,,, I mean really??? LOL
(I probably would've msg'd him-in gamechat-and reminded him first. If that failed then, well...guess nothing to do but double check the position til it's done. Heh. I play Online Chess more often, and there are times when in an critical position-meaning, i have an clear advantage-my opponent will take an vacay for two weeks or more. Lol. Talk about being frustrated! But then, after kicking something, i usually grab an beer and click on "Create Open Challenge").
