Thanks, all, for the replies. I have played through the example in Silman's book, as well as the video recommended by Intermezzo, but am still struggling with this endgame. I sat down OTB with a friend (about a 1250 player) and was able to consistently mate him with KQ vs KN, but playing against chessmaster 10th edition I can't seem to do it. It seems to me that this should be a fairly straight forward win, but I still can't grasp it. Does anyone have further suggestions?
I have started studying endgames recently, and am having a devil of a time with KQ vs KN. Most of the material found on this subject says little more than "It's an easy win. Push the enemy king to the edge and don't get forked." Could someone author an article or video explaining the methods and ideas for this endgame in more detail?
