Sometimes players find their position difficult and they decide to go have a drink and let the clock run out (I'm in a game like that now--because it's 15 0, I can fry my eggs and start another game while I eat them). That's a very good reason to never play 45 45.

Recently, chess.com manipulated the ratings of live standard. It's an interesting experiment and I've been playing more standard.
Alas, nearly every time I offer a seek, I get this message:
15 0 really should be one of the presets. That's my suggestion.
Almost all of my 75,000+ live games online have been played with no increment at one of four time controls: 1-minute, 3-minute, 5-minute, and 15-minute. Three of these time controls are presets. Please add the fourth.
On a popular playing server, these time controls are available "pools" in which a player can enter the pool and be paired randomly. Most usefully, laggers are kept out of these pools.
I know that I could pay the price of a 95 point bottle of wine to play at that server, but chess.com offers more for my money even though its "live" feature is more than a decade behind that Other Place.
