Chess.com has long been a website that offers nearly everything offered by other chess websites, but it cannot compete with chessgames.com nor chess365 because (see image)

Database functions can wait. It's more important to launch rasberry chessboards : they've been working on them for what ? 3 years now ?!

No, but joking aside, their database is not really on par with what exists elsewhere on the Internet, including free options.

Moreover, a high quality database that contains historic games from Greco to Alekhine will do far more to enhance the teaching functions of this site than a database with games played since the Second World War. Historic games are far more useful than recent GM games for helping developing players below master level.

It's a social media site, dudes. The best stuff takes place in GROUPS, if you happen to find the right one for you. The rest is just the standard "best effort" basis.

For amateurs is a great place yes, but they should aim for master level too. They have to make of chess.com the place that every chess player plays on. Besides, having masters would increase the number of amateurs. And there are more masters than Nakamura...
