Thankyou I will take any concerns you have to the mod Boss, JD Cannon once we are elected. Me and JD are big time buddies.

A sense of humor has never been a prerequisite imho ;-)

If it is the case, count my vote on you!!

thank you for your kind nomination.  my lack of humor is well known in the community.  finally i get to cash in on it.  step aside you other mod wannabes ...

my gawd lack of a sense of humour trumps everything!

@Martin_Stahl, were you invited to be a mod too?

Only those who are elected to modism by the will of the people are legitimate.

Robbie's guide to modism

1. The first thing a Mod must do is to legitimise the issue.  People come to Mods expecting a result.  Failure to do so leads people to think that everything is hopeless and this breeds resentment.

2. A mod must walk lightly upon the ground and not stomp around the forums like a tin can hat dictator.  He or she should not police the forum but simply apply the principle of the terms of service rather than the letter of the law. This require discernment.

3. A mod should be diplomatic always airing on the side of caution and politely asking anyone guilty of a misdemeanour if they think that their behaviour is appropriate,.  More often than not the miscreant will come to the realisation themselves through the use of skilful viewpoint questions.  This is much better than dictating terms and issuing ultimatums.

1. i legitimise everything - i even have a legitimate chat room, the only one on this site

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-topic/fatgainers-chat-room-the-only-legitimate-chat-room

2. hopping bunnies are best for light treading

3. my publicly acclaimed lack of sense of humor makes me indisputably diplomatic.

therefore by your own standards, robbie, i am the best candidate.

btw, it's erring on the side of caution, not airing, which may be better done on the hind side on hind sight.

What will your first act as a moderator be?

Avatar of president_max

A humorless acceptance speech.

ha! how many nominations do you need before they must make you a mod?

While I think you are likely posting in jest, take a look at the moderator club if you really want to be considered. Nominations of  members won't do any good

what do you mean? Is it not based on the democratic process? How will I repay my supporters for their loyalty and lobby for change with issues that concern them?  Na in all seriousness I think you need to be a premium member which is a pity cause i would make a great mod, well reasonable and super friendly.

As far as I know, premium is not a prerequisite.

To lock one specific thread

Avatar of RonaldJosephCote

Well that's a dead giveaway, you shouldn't lock any thread unless there's a concensus among mods. Or unless its a blatant violation of the TOS.

Avatar of eryxc

Blatant violations: Spamming, Arguing for a good 3 pages, Calling each other bad names, oh and I believe sexual content in one message... That enough reason?

Avatar of Bad_Dobby_Fischer

lol you're starting an argument right now

Avatar of Roo_2_Unlimited

The problem with locking down a thread is that it punishes everyone, guilty and innocent alike. Its much better to remove or redact single posts and to empower the threads creator to deal with persistent and deliberate attempts to derail it.
