Most Intelligent Music

What do you think is the most intelligent music there is overall?  I think
perhaps Rush or Pink Floyd, but Classical and Jazz have their arguments as
well.
Is there a certain type of music to play while playing online chess that
can improve one's performance?

Why didn't I think of that?

Czech_M8

One of the Chessmaster programs used Classical pieces you could listen to while playing - I miss that in the newest version

Classical. Nothing else comes close. (Even though I still do enjoy some of the better late '60s -- early '70s rock.)

No. Some types may hurt your performance, but none will improve it.

Got to be Jazz, I think

No. Some types may hurt your performance, but none will improve it.

Maybe true for some, but certainly not all. Music actually helps block out other more harmful distractions, I think.

Anyway putting music into categorizations like "most intelligent" is totally insane and laughable.

ichabod801

Yes, but is music a sport?

TheGrobe

Air guitar is -- real guitar is not.

Thank you for posting that link! - I heard that song in the backround of an interview years ago and recently wanted to find it.

What about the claims that certain pieces of music by Mozart actually raises
IQ scores?
What about the claim by the book Superlearning that 60-beat Baroque music
improves learning?
What about studies that claim that certain rock and roll music harms plants,
while certain classical music is used by actual farmers to improve crop yields?

I am not endorsing any of these beliefs, but do you all put stock in any of
these theories?

I was thinking the same thing, though "insane" was not the first word to come to my mind.

"Intelligent music" would undoubtedly be that disgusting, hard-to-listen-to, computer generated, techno-pop.

Do you all feel that all music is of exactly equal intellectual quality then,
whether it be Country and Western, Classical, Jazz, Bubble-Gum Pop, or any
other type of music?

I just typed in Keith Jarrett on Youtube and am listening to him now, he is
really amazing.

Mozart is the most intelligent music. "The Mozart Effect" is well documented. Listening to Mozart will improve your mind and therefore your chess. Mozart's music springs from universal patterns of order and harmony; it was the genius of this prodigy that he could tap into this universal source even at the age of three.
