I saw a post about that on the Beta forums from erik that the status is going away.

why are membership and status missing? when you click "Show All Current Games" you do see it but seems like the "current" page should also display.

I see that Martin, I just wondered why the "secrecy" ... why should anyone need to join a group to learn more about chess.com's plans - premium or otherwise.

It's not about secrecy. That forum is specifically for folks who have been testing the new layout, and they probably don't want others in there so that it's easier to keep everything on topic.
As for why they are limiting the number of folks using the new layout, well, because it's not ready, and it's easier to squash bugs coming from just a few people rather than having 1000s of folks all yelling about th exact same thing.
I have started using the new site look and like it very much, I am having a problem finding how to change my status.In the old version I just edited it and pressed enter, in this new Beta format when I click on about me I can read it but cant edit it, I must be missing something obvious but can you say what I am doing wrong?, Thanks
