Permanent Group Alerts

I just quit a group while I had an alert I'd neither viewed nor ignored.  Now that I've quit, clicking view gives me a permission error and ignore doesn't clear the alert.  From what I can tell I will never be able to clear this alert.

I know there was (or perhaps still is) a problem with incoming alerts not being turned off when a user was banned but not deleted from a group by the administrator and this seems like it might be related.  I believe the same occurs for tracked content for which the permissions have changed resulting in the exclusion of the affected user.

This is an annoyance that really should be fixed once and for all.  Ideally, permission changes would immediately remove any corresponding alerts appropriately, but barring that can we at least get a central place to affect our tracked items and alerts regardless of our access to the underlying objects?
