PGN Changes (causing errors)

It seems that chess.com has changed the PGN output ine the past few months. As a consequence, my database has become corrupted a couple of times.

Now, I clean up the database of games downloaded from chess.com before adding them to my database to prevent further corruption and loss of data.

The image below shows the message that I get after running Integrity Check on chess.com games. After running the Integrity Check and fixing errors, I am able to reset the ECO Codes, which come from chess.com as A00.

Oh god, yet more technology errors I have to worry about. I currently download pgns to a file before adding them to my CB database. Should I run some kind of file check before adding them to CB. If so, how do I do that?

I think there are two issues here, one is that PGNs downloaded from the Archive always include the starting position (even when it is the standard one), and the other that the ECO is wrong.

Most software will handle this correctly anyway I think, but I'll pass it on so that it gets fixed.

Thanks chrka.

I think that you've identified the critical elements of the issue.

Great stuff, Christoffer.  Thanks.
