Playing chess with keyboard

Good afternoon,

What's about playing chess with keyboard by taping the letter and the number of the piece, then selected, tape the letter and the number of the place you want the piece to move?

ChessOfPlayer

lol

Why not mouse or mouse pad.  Much easier.

It's just a proposition, more ways to play, better is the game.

Why the snarky remarks from you guys? While I've never had the need for that option, I can imagine that some people might have a reason for using it, or maybe they just might prefer to use the keyboard. Several GUIs allow that option; Fritz, Arena, Winboard, and maybe even others.

Edit - Also the Shredder GUI.

Edit 2 - Also Scid vs. PC.

And there are those of us who had to play chess like that, it was the only way, most computers had nothing like a mouse attached.

Type in e2 e4 to move your pawn

Type in b1 c3 to move the knight

Of course that was back when the computers were connected by 2 cups and some string and then we had the blazingly fast 300 Baud modems (oh, I remember when I got a 1200 Baud modem. I was a god among mere mortals....).

I use chessmaster 10 pc program to play that way blindfold chess. The engine tells you with voice all the moves that are played.

Thanks for the support guys!

I wasn't saying at all that I want to replace the mouse/touchpad, it's an option that I think, it can give a more confortable playing for some players whom prefere to play with a keyboard therefore a mouse.

Now, the support need to think about it, and may be, I hope, they will make this option available.

what about playing chess with the piano?  each note corresponds to a square on the board and each chord represents the piece you want to move.

I would like to play with the keyboard because it is faster and my touchpad is not comfortable. Thanks for posting, now I see that there is no trivial solution.
