rating range

I would like to be able to create a seek with a range of ratings below my own and not including my own.  As it is now, all seeks must include one's own rating in the range.  I understand that makes sense so that people don't seek "up" too much but why not allow people to seek down if they feel like it once in a while.  This would be beneficial to lower rated players who could accept such seeks.

The range has to include your own, but truth be told If you make an open seek with your rating as the max and 500 points bellow your chances of getting a low rated player are quite high.

Thank you zxb995511 you are right.  I forgot to mention that I wanted to specify and practice an opening which I don't usually play and I wanted to guarantee a lower opponent because of that.  I would still like the system to allow "downward seeks" such that my rating did not have to be included in the rating range.

Or upward for that matter-playing against stronger opponents is best for improvement. They see your rating and make a free choice to play against you-why not?

In live chess, you can set up a rating range that does not include your own rating, so why not in turn based?

instead of playing against lower rated players to practice a new opening, i'd suggest playing unrated games against your normal range of players.
