Request for Game Archive search enhancement(s)

It would be really useful if chess.com facilitated users searching their game archives for games they specifically played against a specific opponent, as opposed to the current limited search function that lets us search for a registered chess.com user, but then lists all of the games that user played against anyone and everyone, instead of limiting the results to games played specifically against the person doing the search.

How hard could such sub-filtering functionality be to add? (Speaking as a a professional s/w engineer, I know it would not be that difficult to add in the 'grand scheme' of things).

Other game archive search filtering would be useful too, such as all won or all lost games, and games within a certain period of time, games won or lost within 'n' moves.  The ability to flag or mark specific games as interesting in some way or another, or to add a permanent note, and then search on those characteristics would be really great.

And of course wildcard search capabilities for username and other fields would be extremely helpful because we might only know part of the name of a user we want to look up (for example a name with a weird spelling or JohnDoe283895927583, etc...)

I'm sure such features would be resoundingly welcome and appreciated by a significant percentage of users.

you can download for free SCID which is available at chess.com , download the pgn of all your games , load the pgn file on SCID and from there you can do all the research you want: position, players, pieces , openings etc...

Exactly where do I find that?  I used to be able to search My Games in the Game Explorer but now, whenever I click that option nothing comes up.  That can't be right because most of my games use the same opening(s).  Several moves deep; I may add.  Game Explorer used to be my favorite way to search my previous games.  So, now you're telling me there's another "hoop" I have to jump through called SCID?  I thought chess.com was supposed to be user friendly.

Thanks for letting me know about that.  That's better than nothing, I suppose, and I may do it.  But the inconvenience of that is the kind of encumberance that is actually offputting and doesn't lend itself to spontaneous searches.  Online search would ultimately be much more useful.

Is the concern the query load on the servers?

probably they don't want to overload their server. I forgot to say that in SCID  there's an engine and an opening book regards

The fact that overload of the servers is a concern also sort of implies how useful and sought after such a feature would be.  It would make chess.com that much more irresistable and difficult to compete against, having a robust dynamic game history searching and cross-referencing available to users (or at least paid members).

It might even be used as a perk for upgrades of membership, such as limiting users to 'n' searches a day, or month, for members,  more for gold members, and unlimited for premium members, or some scheme like that.  That way, revenue toward providing the back-end computing power could be generated that would be associated with the added incentive of offering the new feature.

refletivist, you probably ought to post this somewhere that they will read it, it's a good idea.

I have tried a number of times the link that says "Download all my games in one pgn file." I always get the message "Your PGN is being generated. We will email you the PGN when it is complete.", but I've never received the file. Has anyone actually had this work? Can it be fixed?
