I wish in real life I could disable other's mouth like we disable chat. Some people spoke shit. Some speak rude. Some cruel.
Sexual harassment
let it be the kindling that sparks the fire , when they abuse , insult , demean , you know it is your chess that is causing them to lash out , as you see from the posts , many get this tirade of insults from others and what is the one defining factor ? they are getting beat and lash out verbally ,
you however have what their words lack , deeds ,
beat them so they learn to respect , is one deed
report them for their abuse is another deed
blocking them is another deed
disabling chat another
use each or all of these deeds , and hopefully they will learn that chess is about what you do at the board and not what comes from your mouth ,

Agreed when one learns that abuse is not a reflection of the intended recipient of the vitriol but the source of the abuse it all becomes much clearer.
Dude I was forced to play Animal Jam by my niece who is 14, I was like man this sucks, then I started to like it! I was a wolf, a stripey awesome wolf, black and yellow, but then she went home and i bombed out cause I felt uneasy, still my den was awesome!
Many chess players have not been laid. Pathetic!
I saw something like this on the forums the other day. There were many people blaming it on the victim. I thought this was ridiculous. Sure, they could've blocked the person. Or just left. But that's not the problem. The problem is that there are people ridiculing victims of online sexual harassment. It makes them feel like they need to hide because they don't have a voice and that makes them stay quiet forever. Another argument they said was that Chess.com doesn't care. I call bullcrap. I once got a message from Chess.com talking about this very subject.
I agree. I think it's ridiculous how much harassment there is on a website that was made for people to connect, have fun, and play chess. Safely.
That being said, I've also played with many decent male players without any weirdness, and through playing, consider them to truly be a "friend" of sorts; good people.
I'm not sure there's any real way around it, beyond calling people out or flagging them, though.
I don't usually comment, but reading this thread and the "metooism" comment, along with members who claim to be on here for 10+years and never experiencing inappropriate contents, right off, is/are complete and utter nonsense. I'm just saying those who have a problem with addressing this issue or deny harassment occurs, fall way short of being decent humans.

Its the internet, of course people are going to act "differently" online than how they would in person.
Im not justifying it, its just how some are.
Now as far as being "sexually harassed" here? Its never happened. I can take that as either a compliment, or insult.

Buddy that's awesome , I used to play animal jam too , @FM_CHECKMATE told me to play animal jam , but she closed her account , so I don't play animal jam anymore
awoooooooooooooooooo! awoooooooooooooooooo!
This is why a lot of girls will pretend they're dudes around the internet. It is a common practice I've seen in some online games I play - seems wise.

Why would you want to?
It's true, no-one should HAVE to disable chat because other people cannot control themselves. Report each and every one of them.
