Sick and tired of time wasters

Look, I know that there is a time-limit of 1-3 days, but in a situation where the oponent has only say two players to respond to and only one of those players is online, why do they take sooooo long to make a move?

I hate when they handcuff you to the computer. It's like you can't go anywhere or do anything, you're just stuck.

They're "lollygagging around."

I believe this topic is finished! Nice job, TonydalSmile

It's not finished...   There should be another set of time-limits as well as the 1-3 days time limit.  24, 18 & 12 hours comes to mind.  So those that want to go for 1-3 days can still do so, but there should be this other option.  12 hours is enough time to make just one move...

I'll go with 24hrs a move as an alternative option.

Wou_Rem

Isn't there already a one day time limit?

Don't start games with someone having 3 days if you don't want to wait that long. I can take as long as I want with a game. Sometimes I get home all tired and I just check chess.com without making a move, is that so hard to understand?

You can play more games at once, there's no limit for that, or you can try live chess, articles, or other chess material on the site.

join fast teams/tournaments for 1/day a move. actually you will find there players who play and make quick moves.

Um, you might want to think through this idea a little more #FAIL

Global chess site, different time zones - 12 hours for move? Undecided

I don't think so. Cool

Just use conditionals, and then go have a beer, forget about the game. Or start up another one. Or maybe make some pleasant conversation? Or ask them why they're not resigning yet? Ask them what they see that your friend Fritz doesn't? Haha.

Maybe they're using Tactics Trainer or Chess Mentor or watching videos or reading articles or blogs or forums.

Or maybe they're posting on forums to complain about people taking too long to move!

There's other things to do online than just play you!

heinzie

I'm assuming they are wasting their time on other things while you are wasting your time refreshing the Internet
