which browser? which OS? what other programs running? it's likely that your CPU is being all used up somehow, making your javascript run slowly...
Terrible slow motion pieces

II have the same problem mentioned by Schnewly and it is not the isue mentioned by erik.
I change to chess cube.

i have this issue constantly. I use firefox win 7 no other programs running is generally worse if the ad running has high motion graphics and when it changes from one ad to the next i absolutaly cannot pick up a piece until it has finished loading. i have used this site for years and only since the reformat that moved the ads to the side of the screen and put them on a loop has this been a problem. i have actually discussed this with my own tech pals at legnth and they concluded that it is more than likely a scripting issue on your end not mine. I would have to agree with them since i can play high usage games, like world of warcraft, on my system without lag issues but here i cannot even play a 10 min game without sweating on time. 10 sec lag times 50 moves equals eight and a half minutes. That is a distinct advantage to my opponents. I also have this issue when i use I.E. for browser. I also have this issue when ive paid and have no ads running.

I think it depends on your connection and how close you are to chess.com servers (California I believe).
I've also had time melt away during blitz. For me chess.com is very hard to pace myself. If I play as fast as I see my opponent play, then I'll be down by as much as a minute, which is close to losing in 3 minute chess. So here I need the new habit of looking at the clocks every few moves.

it's not so much time melting away. i cannot even pick up the piece. as far as connection goes other sites work just fine, chessimo, chess24. and like stated in my original post even world of warcraft a highly graphic and interactive realtime game runs smoothly. players on this site are from all over the world so location would suggest that a U.S player like myself would have less lag than one from europe. now i do belive servers could play a role in the problem but that would be chess.coms lack of adequate hardware no? i'm gonna have to stick to my guns that it's a scripting issue.

I have to conclude all problems with slow graphics are primarily computer related.
I have no problems at all on my own very fast machine (any problems with 1 0 bullet are entirely my own responsibility), but on another PC that is perfectly ok for typical web browsing, the interface was sluggish enough to severely handicap 5 minute chess.
I think it may be that the interface has become more demanding of resources over time. This could be due to changes in the operating system, security software, browser software and probably one or two other things as well as the site design.
Since when did this site become so bad?
Every time I pick up a piece to move it it's like my PC freezes and the piece moves way slower than my mouse.. It's like that setting where you can set your mouse cursor to drag with no sharp movements..
Not happening on other sites, only this one and intermittent.. Guess I'll have to find another place to play bullet.. Anyone else get this problem?
