The Deadline for V3

Winter is Coming. Erik and the other supporters of the V3 regime must be STOPPED!

The single worst thing that has ever happened to chess.com is looming over us, with the deadline set for October 1st, 2016.

Chess.com, after working 2 years on this, I understand if you will not stop V3. Of course, you should have asked opinions before you even started working on the project...

Chess.com, know this. You can do V3 for all you want, but you will definitely, certainly, lose quite a few supporters of this site. Including me - I may close this account soon if V3 will soon be the only option available.

I do not think that any chess.com staff will read this, nor that it will have any effect on their decision. But I think I have carried across my point.

Joseph_Truelson

Yeah, v2 is MUCH better

Joseph_Truelson

Wow, I'll do it, but if you are unsuccessful... RAR

MGleason

I actually like v3 better...

What!???? How can anyone like V3?

I do!

It takes a bit of getting used to, but after using it for a while, I like it better.

Group notes on V2 at the side where you can see them, Yaaaaaay, group notes on V3 can't see them, dissapeared into the ether, Booooooooo

In V2, everyone knew where the EXIT doors were. In V3, the fire escape routes haven't been properly marked and publicized, so the fire marshall has delayed the grand opening. Smile

I'm pretty sure work on v3 started more than two years ago. Two years ago it was opened up for testing, handled by group membership. Not everything was done but a large portion of the site was working. I believe work was already in progress by 2012 based on comments made at the time of the visual redesign that was completed then.

@superdrewe53, group notes are very visible at your home page (https://www.chess.com/home, not the main chess.com home page), in a sidebar on the right.  That's relatively new in the last couple months.

They're also in the facebook-style notification dropdown menu.

v3 is the best robert, even you once admitted it was better for bullet chess.

RonaldJosephCote

I understand the platform is better, its the visual redesign that everybody has a problem with. Its like going to the grocery store and finding out that the bread which was in isle 4 for 7 yrs is now in isle 8.

Robert - I'm sure that chess.com staff are reading this and that they want you to remain a member, as you're really a great member.

Now let me ask you this: when exactly was the last time you sincerely gave v3 a chance?

Yesterday I spent 30 minutes trying out V3. About the only thing I like about it is the improvements made to live chess, but otherwise...

RonaldJosephCote

Undecided...Its like false teeth. You have to keep trying it for longer time limits every time to get use to them. lol.Laughing

Well - if you tried it for 30 minutes and don't like it except for live chess - then there's nothing I can really say about it...

I happen to like it. I find it more smooth and streamlined, and once you get the basic idea, stuff is generally easier to find...

It's a better design, in my opinion...
