I think that it's the same way in chess24...

I think that they're going to keep growing at pretty much the same rate - and I believe that we'll keep enjoying your posts and your rants too :-) !!!!

Robert_New_Alekhine

THEY USED TO HAVE 10 SECONDS AND THAT WAS ALREADY TOO SLOW FOR ME! ARE YOU TELLING ME I CAN ONLY DISCUSS THE GAME ONCE A MINUTE? WHAT IF IT'S A BULLET GAME? COMPLETE AND UTTER RUBBISH! COMPLETE AND UTTER RUBBISH!

AND YES, I AM RANTING. V3 IS THE MOST HORRIBLE THING TO HAVE HAPPENED TO CHESS.COM SINCE I JOINED THE SITE.

Here's a ticket I sent to chess.com:

Hello,

Firstly, I would like to thank the staff for making chess.com the great site it is. There are few complaints that I have and most are minor, but as Version 3 is coming up there suddenly seem to be more and more of them.

One of the biggest ones that I have is a complaint about Live Chess in the new version. On the old site, non-paying members like me had the ability to chat, though it was limited to once every 10 seconds. This still allowed members to communicate and chat while observing games, and allowed a thorough discussion of a game of any time control.

However, in the newest version of chess.com we only have the ability to chat once every 60 seconds, which does not allow for any discussions in public chat. The rapid fire conversations in live chess are always interesting, but now they will be gone after this new feature.

I understand that this is a way to get non-paying members to get a premium membership, but it makes Live Chess unusable for those members who cannot or do not wish to pay. I would strongly encourage chess.com to bring back the 10 seconds chat feature, and I am sure that there are many who support a change to the old.

Sincerely,

Robert_New_Alekhine

I'm against this. I think that every member should have the right to speak, and not every 60 seconds.

However, the site has to support itself - and as you say, it's a way to encourage people to go premium...

In my opinion, it's well worth it - others may disagree...

Robert_New_Alekhine

There are other ways to support the site. And in the meantime, when will chess.com finally make the site fair by allowing auto-vacation for non-premium members as well, so premium members have a smaller chance of losing on time?

MGleason

I suspect that was a spam-control change.  Paying members are not likely to be spambots, but free members might be.  60 seconds is maybe not the best cut-off, though.

Lol.. True.. Can't believe I missed that..

I prefer V2 in my ways but as for the "spam filter", you cannot spam if you only speak every 10 seconds. But you can more or less keep a conversation. Putting the limit in 60 seconds does not allow you to do that.

By the way, does somebody know what happened to Bilbo?

Martin_Stahl

According to v3 Bilbo21 closed the account.

lol.Laughing  Wrong thread Martin. Here, I'll transfer your call to the proper threadWink

Connor_Macleod1518

V3 is just brilliant.

Staff should close this nonsense thread.

The OP is full of crap... as always.

He's a future liability. Bring on V3 now... or maybe on my wifes birthday. 3rd Sept tongue.png
